Battlefield 1942 demo beats Warcraft III at iGames
EA's demo for Battlefield 1942 beats out Blizzard's Warcraft III for second place on iGames' list of the most popular multiplayer games for August.
Counter-Strike is still in the lead as the most popular multiplayer game, according to iGames' Top 20 poll, but at this rate Battlefield 1942 may pose a threat to Counter-Strike's dominance. In August, the multiplayer demo for Battlefield 1942, EA's new World War II team-based action game, managed to displace the retail version of Blizzard's best-selling Warcraft III. Also of note is the continued popularity of the Day of Defeat mod for Half-Life, which jumped to seventh place after two months in the 11th spot.
