Electronic Arts is not holding back in speaking about its optimism for this year's Battlefield 1, saying it aims to be the "biggest and most innovative" entry in the series ever.

During the company's latest earnings briefing, CEO Andrew Wilson gushed about the game, also speaking about the community's response to the World War 1 shooter's announcement last Friday.

"In a global livestream last Friday that was watched by more than 2 million people, Battlefield 1 made its debut," Wilson said in his prepared remarks. "Fans got their first look into the intense, visceral combat and epic scale of this groundbreaking new game from DICE, and the response was immediate and extraordinary. The trailer was viewed more than 21 million times in the first four days, a new record for EA, and it is now our most-liked trailer in history.

"With Battlefield 1, we've set out to deliver the biggest and most innovative Battlefield game ever, with a deep story and unprecedented variety in the gameplay powered by our Frostbite engine."

Battlefield global community manager Dan Mitre thanked fans for their support, also mentioning that DICE will share more details on Battlefield 1 at EA's E3 event in June.

"Everyone at DICE and across EA are totally blown away by the awesome reaction gamers have had to Battlefield 1," Mitre said. "Last week, we pulled back the veil to show everyone what we've been working on, and we bore witness to incredible support from fans.

Battlefield 1 launches on October 21, though people with an EA/Origin Access membership or those who pick up the deluxe edition can get in on October 18. Additionally, a beta will be held sometime before launch.

Also during the earnings briefing, EA management explained why Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2--two big-name games in the same shooter category--can both enjoy success and not cannibalize each other.

In other news, Battlefield 1's announcement trailer is the most-liked trailer on YouTube, while Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's is the most disliked. Additionally, DICE has confirmed the game will have a server browser, while it's also been announced that some of the game is set in the Italian Alps.
