Melissa McCarthy's The Boss opened on Friday and pushed Batman v Superman to No. 2, according to box office numbers today from Deadline. It was a very tight race, as The Boss made $23.48 million this weekend, while Batman v Superman took in $23.435 million.

However, Deadline also mentions that a "rival studio report" shows that The Boss had a wider lead, making closer to $24 million, besting Batman v Superman by $900,000. Still, a close one, for sure.

It's also been reported that Batman v Superman made more money than The Boss on Saturday ($10.7 million compared to $9.7 million), but The Boss opened $2 million stronger for its Friday opening.

Batman v Superman was not going to stay on top forever, especially considering its substantial dropoff between weeks one and two and a middling critical reception. Globally to date, the film has made more than $780 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

In other recent news about Batman v Superman, it's been reported that the film will make a smaller profit than 2013's lower-budget Man of Steel.

Looking ahead, Affleck is signed up to play Batman for Zack Snyder's two upcoming Justice League movies, while the actor is also reportedly working on a "really cool" standalone Batman movie.
