Batman: Arkham Origins single-player DLC described as "extensive," not coming to Wii U

Warner Bros. officially announces Cold, Cold Heart; coming to Xbox Live, PSN, and PC on April 22 for $10 or free with Season Pass; will explore Mr. Freeze's origin story.

by

Warner Bros. today announced Cold, Cold Heart, the first story expansion for Batman: Arkham Origins. The content is described as "extensive," and will launch April 22 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The content is not coming to Wii U due to a lack of demand.

The Cold, Cold Heart expansion has players exploring the origin story of Mr. Freeze, where they will learn about how he became one of Batman's fiercest foes. The DLC is included with the $20 Batman: Arkham Origins season pass or can be purchased separately for $10.

Cold, Cold Heart takes places in various Gotham City locations, including Wayne Manor, and gives players the new Batman Extreme Environment (XE) suit and gadgets like the Thermal Gloves and Thermocharged Batarangs. In all, the Cold, Cold Heart expansion is said to span "several hours" of gameplay.

Though everyone in the comment section has made it pretty clear they have no intention of buying this DLC I'm still gonna go right ahead and say no-one buy this, WB don't deserve your hard-earned cash.

As a fan of both the Wii U and Batman this is an insult to both of 'em. Hey, don't ignore the Wii U users who buy your broken-ass game and stop milking the Batman franchise for easy money.

i love when gamespot put in the headline "not coming to Wii U"

I just had my second CORRUPT SAVE file. Horribly broken game, such a shame!!

Do not buy DLC, please! That's the only way to them stop doing it! Yet alone freaking Season Passes that indicates they aren't trying to make game complete upon release.

And for Wii U users - nothing of value was lost.

I refuse to support WB Montreal since they were aware of all the problems in the game but refused to fix it just to try to take more money from us in DLC.

They should wok on the game breaking bugs, maybe this DLC will bring in the money to pay to fix the bugs.

Great, now how about you fix some of them damn bugs. Wait I guess the position they've taken is "why bother." Because

a) everyone who was going to buy the game has already bought it

b) probably only about 1% of their customers are actually aware that this problem exists and

c) why spend money on fixing bugs which will earn you zero additional profit when you can focus your resources on something that can and

d) screw quality - we're just a bunch of corporate jackasses that only care about lining our crooked pockets - you internet fanboyz can just screw off!!

Does anyone actually care about this game?

This should have been part of the main game.  I would love to see Mr Freeze's origin, but I'm not paying $10 for something that should have been included in the original game.  When the sequel to Arkham City comes out I can only imagine what kind of content will be cut to make DLC.

I've been playing the PC version and have yet to run into any game breaking glitches at all. That being said, a friend of mine got stuck in Burnley Tower and soon after he glitched himself out of that, he feel through the map and even after restarting from the last checkpoint he's falling through it. WB really should at least fix the glitches BEFORE releasing the DLC. Seriously, doing something that shady to a loyal fanbase is just insult to injury.

Arkham Origins just ruined the arkham series i was almost thinking about picking this up until i heard about the bugs that wb won't fix, almost like they want this game to fail, honestly why try to send out dlc when they can't even fix simple bugs. If rocksteady is making another arkham game i'll buy that instantly.

Lol...DLC for a game this shitty and bugged. Not to mention this game sucked ass compared to the previous installments. I've been a Hardcore Batman Fan since birth and even I wouldn't give this Garbage a second run

Here's the thing, though.  If I put the Batman Arkham Origins disk back in my console, it refuses to start.  No other game has this problem, just Batman.  It's like the machine knows the thing is a buggy mess and just rejects it.  I can't see myself going back to that for any DLC.  Maybe if it had just worked from the outset, it would have been better.  It was a decent game, all the technical problems aside.

Sweet! Extensive DLC that they won't support when it has game breaking bugs!

Seriously, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart here, take your DLC elsewhere because I'll never be buying your S*** again. Ever. I refuse to support a developer who doesn't even support their own product.

With the way WB Montreal pretty much abandoned all those still having problems with the game by saying they weren't doing anymore patches in order to focus on DLC, I won't be giving them another dollar or cent of my money.

I thought Eddie was going to make through an entire week without using the term "not coming to Wii U", but he's a tricksy one that Eddie.

I enjoyed the game personally and didn't see all the glitches that others have reported. Glad I got it for the 360 and not the Wii U. DLC seems interesting.

Several hours?!?! For $10?!?!

Someone Koijma the link for this article, please. I'm all on board for this.

EDIT: Reading through the other comments I'm reminded of the issues people have been having and WB's 'and what' attitude toward them. I've experienced no issues myself, but think I may well find myself siding with those affected and not getting the dlc. It's not like I haven't got anything else I could be playing, and WB's indifference REALLY fecks me off. A precedence needs to be set.

I'd like to explore the origins of the game breaking bugs that a few of us have experienced?  Or glitches that a significant amount of us are dealing with?  Maybe work on the game problems?  Pretty disappointed...

$10 seems like a fair price, but I don't understand how they have the means to create "extensive" DLC packs, while ignoring the issues still remaining in the base game, seriously wtf!?

The irony is wiiu version has near to no bugs and glitches when compared to other platforms. Yet this DLC is not being released. Go fuck yourself WB. You totally screwed it this time.

@snaketus  -   Im going to buy it, and enjoy it.   So will many others.

Not everyones game is broken.

fated_sin

@g1rldraco7  they should but the likelihood of that is the same chance of us wii u owners getting the dlc since apparently we're in 'lack of demand' for the last piece of the season pass. Funny how they screw us out of it after putting out the rest of it for us. I still give props to Nintendo for showing care for their customers unlike WBM with the refunds on the season pass which allowed me to get a much better and more polished game in Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut. (awesome on the wii u by the way.)

@toddx77 -  Why should it have been part of the main game?

@toddx77  why should this of been in the main game when their was no mention of Mr freeze at all?

fated_sin
fated_sin

@knighttraviis  yeah just think about the crap they pulled on those of us that prefer the game on Wii U. First in Injustice they rob us of Zatanna and Martian Manhunter as well as an ultimate edition now we're screwed out of being allowed the story dlc because 'lack of demand'? That's also the same bs excuse they used for not letting us have the option to harp on their multiplayer too. WB stick to movies and leave the Batman games to Rocksteady. I hate to say that since they were the ones to port Arkham City over to Wii U which was a more immersive experience thanks to the gamepad control scheme.

Kickable

@knighttraviis Let your friend know they released a fix for that, works for a few other bugs too.  "Start a new game." -.-

cnote814

@theonesofgames

They didnt ruin anything.   Anyone who says that is an idiot.

Does the game have bugs?   Sure, but they arent as crippling as some make them out to be.

fated_sin
fated_sin

@SavoyPrime  yeah I don't get it. They did such a great job porting Arkham City for Wii U and then they get a chance to do an Arkham Game of their own and...gah it angers me so much! I thought they'd do a good job having had their hands in Armored Edition but then all the bugs on the other versions and now the anti-wii u treatment on the very last piece of the Season Pass?! Oh and thank you Nintendo for being stand up guys refunding those of us that got conned by WB Games and their season pass. Which means all that other stuff you worked on WB in the dlc I have for free so stick that up your pipes and smoke it!

*sighs* sorry their a hole tactics just get me so riled up. Especially when the wii u version was so lacking in gameplay difference. Only nice thing was the map feature on the gamepad everything else was just like the rest proving they rushed this game badly.

Kickable
Kickable

@chev7781 it was news to me, not that I care, just saying.  I think it's reasonable that a cancellation, not just an absence, of DLC on a particular platform might warrant a little more coverage than usual.

Kickable
Kickable

@jeob I am, but I guess knowing I won't feel obligated to pay them for it helps a little.

fated_sin
fated_sin

@PlatinumPaladin  they have likened it to Harley Quinn's Revenge in length and given the fact they're just ripping off the origin story written by Paul Dini I see no reason to invest in it. Just wait till they release a goty version and trade in games for it. That's the way to stick it to them.

fated_sin
fated_sin

@Kickable  problem is that you don't do that when you've given gamers on said system every other piece of dlc the pass had to offer including Deathstroke and Black Mask Challenge pack. I was fine with no multiplayer cause it has no place in my arkham game (besides played it on a friends ps3 and even patched it's garbage in dropped connections despite having a perfect signal.) but when I learned this injustice was being thrown my way I was tempted to snap my copy in half. (thankfully I saw that nintendo gave them a hearty middle finger by refunding us our money and letting us keep the content. #thatiscustomerservice )

Kickable

@cnote814 @Kickablei guess I'm supposed to feel insulted.  high five

Kickable

@fated_sin @Kickable yea it's risky to operate with integrity.  Nintendo sales will likely still decline and WB's probably already halfassing their next successful title.
