Barbie and Oppenheimer had their second weekends in theaters, and the films continued to put up massive numbers to help fuel the box office to another weekend of major success.

Barbie has now surpassed $775 million worldwide, with Oppenheimer climbing beyond $400 million globally. Together, Barbie and Oppenheimer have quickly cleared $1 billion after less than two weeks.

Barbie earned about $93 million for its second weekend in the US and $122.2 million from international markets, while Oppenheimer pulled in $46 million for its second weekend stateside and $72.4 million from international regions. In short, both movies launched hot out of the gate and continue to perform well. These newest box office numbers come from Deadline.

Thanks in part to positive word of mouth for both, Barbie and Oppenheimer are expected to continue to make good money in the weeks to come. Later on, they will inevitably come to home video and streaming where they will make even more money and reach even wider audiences.

For Barbie, its second-weekend US numbers were only eclipsed by the films Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, Jurassic World, and The Avengers. As for Oppenheimer, it is now the second highest-grossing R-rated biopic of all time at the global box office, only trailing Clint Eastwood's American Sniper.

For Oppenheimer, it is now director Christopher Nolan's sixth-biggest movie ever based on box office, surpassing the entire lifetime runs of Batman Begins and Tenet. The Dark Knight Rises is Nolan's highest-grossing movie of all time, earning more than $1 billion back in 2012.

How high can Barbie and Oppenheimer fly at the box office? $1 billion for Barbie seems within range, and for Oppenheimer, it should easily clear $500 million when all is said and done. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on both films in the days to come.
