The Baldur's Gate 3 Soul Coins are unique items that you can find during your travels. Their description states that they can power Infernal Engines. They're also fairly rare, and each one sells for 400 gold. Our guide discusses where you can obtain Soul Coins as you progress through the campaign. Likewise, please be reminded that this guide contains minor spoilers.

Where to Find Soul Coins in Baldur's Gate 3

As noted earlier, the Baldur's Gate 3 Soul Coins fetch quite a high price. However, as of the time of this writing, we've yet to discover if there's an important use for them in the game.

In any case, we've listed several locations where you can find Baldur's Gate 3 Soul Coins. Due to the "Infernal Engine" description, one guess is that they might be related to Karlach's companion quest and romance. But, this remains to be seen. As such, we suggest keeping them in your inventory for the time being.

Act 1 Soul Coins

Druid Grove - After taking out the Goblin scouts, climb to the top of the ridge and make your way east. You'll see a Bugbear that's about to attack a Tiefling named Nadira. Eliminate the Bugbear and she'll be grateful for your help.

Dank Crypt - Several Soul Coins can be found in the Dank Crypt, the game's first mini-dungeon of sorts:

  • There's a Soul Coin in the room with the sarcophagus and explosion traps. Make sure you press the button on the pillar to disable the traps, then check one of the small sarcophagi off to the side to obtain the item.
  • Also in the same chamber, go to the left of the statue and press the button. Once you eliminate the enemies, you can enter the small nook. Open the sarcophagus to release Withers, who'll provide class respec and hireling services in your Camp. Moreover, you should find a Soul Coin in Withers' sarcophagus.

Risen Road - After you recruit Karlach, go the the building where Anders and his cohorts are hiding. Eliminate them and check the boxes/shelves in the small adjacent room on the ground floor.

Act 2 Soul Coins

Moonrise Towers - For now, we've only discovered three Soul Coins during the game's second act. We picked them up from Lann, Armorer to the Absolute, an NPC in Moonrise Tower. The penultimate encounter that concludes this chapter might be different due to your choices. In our case, we went to the Gauntlet of Shar, where we met and spared the Nightsong.

Afterward, we assaulted Moonrise Towers as part of an army commanded by Jaheira. Since Lann was cultist of the Absolute, he also ended up as a casualty of the battle. The good news is that he did drop three of these valuable items.

Act 3 Soul Coins

Lower City - In the Lower City, you'll find Peartree's Home (X:38; Y:-94). Passing a check also reveals a key hidden underneath the floorboards. You should then move the crates, allowing you to go down the hatch. Down below, you can use the key to open a chest that has two Soul Coins. Note that this location is part of the Investigate the Murders and Find Dribbles the Clown side quests.

House of Hope - We found five Soul Coins in the House of Hope dungeon. This involved a romance scene with a peculiar individual, but the goal is to obtain a key. This lets you open a safe behind a painting, which contains the Soul Coins, as well as a note that helps you acquire a weapon.

In any case, there are likely more Baldur's Gate 3 Soul Coins in the campaign. We'll update this guide soon, so stay tuned.

Baldur's Gate 3 is filled to the brim with activities and secrets. You'll no doubt be part of an adventure that can take countless hours to complete. For other tips, you can visit our BG3 guides hub.
