Those thinking about picking up a copy of Electronic Arts' modern multimillion-selling shooter might want to consider holding off a little while longer, as retailers today listed a new, compilation package of the game.

According to United Kingdom retailer ShopTo.net, and Amazon in the United States, EA is planning to release the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition as early as August 31. The new iteration is said to include all previously released Bad Company downloadable content, as well as DICE's online-only Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network title Battlefield 1943.

Specifically, the game's purported box art reveals that the bundle will include the aforesaid BF 1943, the cooperative-minded Onslaught mode, the six Limited Edition unlocks, and VIP downloads, which were packed into new copies of the game.

As of press time neither EA nor DICE has responded to GameSpot's request for comment or clarification on the situation. That said, EA is no stranger to purported ultimate editions, as a Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition popped up on GameStop.com earlier this week.
