Back to the Future game out in December

Telltale announces launch month and platforms for its episodic Back to the Future adventure game.

Back to the Future: The Game will launch in December for the PC and Mac, with a PlayStation 3 and iPad version coming later, Telltale Games has announced.

Back in the near future.

Back to the Future: The Game comes from the developer of Tales of Monkey Island and Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse. As with those games, Back to the Future will span five episodes, with one episode released each month. Telltale secured the deal to make a Back to the Future game back in June, along with the rights to adapt Jurassic Park.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the studio's design director Dave Grossman told GameSpot to expect an experience that advances Telltale's approach to adventure games: "You can expect Back to the Future to be the next step in the evolution that we have been doing for the adventure game--probably a little more accessible and directed. We've been moving things in that direction for a long time."

On the newly launched official site, the PC and Mac versions of the game are available for preorder. The $24.95 (£16) preorder bundle includes Telltale's Puzzle Agent puzzle adventure game, access to a community "insider forum," and a $1 donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The site is also inviting users to register to receive the first episode for free.

Because on the Xbox 360 it would cost $69.99 like all the other games. Sure, buying a gaming PC may be tough on the wallet, but the games sure aren't, especially cause of Steam. Plus PC Devs are smart and like to make DLC's free. So is playing online... and a lot of other things that PC's can do...

PS3...but no 360. Interesting...

Whoa this is heavy! Xbox 360? Where were going, we don't need Xbox! (just get it on Steam guys and stop complaining). Can't wait to play this, after getting all the movies on blu ray I am even more excited about seeing what they came up with for the continuing story of the trilogy. This is going to be great. Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one!!

@HappyBB The free first episode thing is at the bottom where it says in a fairly large font 'register for your free episode' ;)
The way I look at it, if you're going to wait 25 years to make a (good) game out of a great series, you might as well do it in style.
Oh yeah, cause we all know what "style" Superman on the N64 was. Not the best example, but there it is. Licensed games just don't stand much of a chance as it is when translated to game format. You just can't recreate those great ol' memories with todays technology. Call it a stigma. But that's how it is. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of my childhood movies getting butchered because someone in the industry wants to make more money by milking hit.

This is like 10 years (minimum) too late.

As you can see, another PC dev chooses PS3 over 360. Can anyone else see a dying platform, ditched by the devs, ready to go down? I do.

Do they still offer the first episode for free? I register and I see no mention of first episode free! Has the offer ended or GS is giving out misleading information? I sign up for the sake of getting the first one free! Where's the offer?

As long as Telltale makes sure the PS3 version actually runs well. I got Sam and Max but haven't played much of it because the horrible framerate issues.

Since June? Only 6 months to make a game? And to say it's on the ipad means it will most likely be a very small game. Not what i was expecting

Michael J Fox was on a couple episodes of Rescue Me recently. His parkinsons has gotten REALLY really bad. Its cool that he doesn't let it stop him and he doesn't mind doing work in front of the camera from time to time.

Hello McFly, if it's a good game I'm buying it.

To anyone complaining about the game being episodic - you could always wait until the end of April and buy it then, that way you can play it all in one go? There will inevitably be a lot of people who'll hate this because they want an action/open world game but I reckon anyone who enjoys the film for its dialogue and character development should at least give it a chance. I'm confident Telltale can make something wonderful out of it.

To all these naysayers, are you serious about what your saying? Back to the Future is one of the greatest classics to come out of the 80's, is one of the most well known 80's movies, and gave Michael J. Fox's career a heavy boost, not to mention put Christopher Lloyd on my generations map. Doc Brown and Mart McFly, even Biff, are characters most people know by name. Saying that BTTF had no effect on pop culture is just plain silly and false. That said, I am greatly looking forward to this game. It's gonna be amazing :D

@Barighm "That's Heavy." Just one quote from Back to the Future. Oh, Family Guy also used the dance scene in two of their episodes. But you're right. Even though one of today's most popular cartoons has never made a reference to Ghostbusters, but has to BTTF, Ghostbusters totally did more to pop culture than Ghostbusters.

lol I wonder if this will be as demonic and totally unrelated as the NES game.

to the people who are saying make a disc version they more than likely eventually will. Almost all of the Telltale games get a disc version after all the episodes have been released.
