Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock has announced that it is ending development on that game as the studio transitions to its next game.

In a blog post, Turtle Rock said it is a "pretty small studio" for the types of games it makes. As such, the company doesn't have enough developers to keep supporting Back 4 Blood while it also works on another game. "Yes, another game! Given this, it's time for us to put our heads down, get back in the lab, and get to work on the next big thing," Turtle Rock said.

Now Playing: Back 4 Blood – “River of Blood” Launch Trailer

Back 4 Blood will stay online and functional, and the game remains available through Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium.

Following its launch in October 2021, Turtle Rock supported Back 4 Blood with three expansions, including Tunnels of Terror, Children of the Worm, and River of Blood.

While Turtle Rock has confirmed it's now working on a new game, don't expect the studio to talk about it soon. "While we may be a bit quieter in the short-term, we promise that we'll be back, bigger, bolder and better than ever," the studio said.

Turtle Rock is best known for Left 4 Dead and the Counter-Strike series. It worked with 2K on Evolve and later Warner Bros. for Back 4 Blood. In December 2021, Turtle Rock was acquired by Tencent.
