UPDATE: EA has since confirmed to GameSpot AU that Queensland's Courier Mail will be carrying the Spore promotion on Saturday August 30, 2008. The Spore Creature Creator will be sold with the newspaper for an extra A$2.

Anyone in Australia who plans on picking up the Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, or Courier-Mail on Saturday will be in for a pleasant surprise. Included with The Saturday Daily Telegraph is a free copy of the full-version Spore Creature Creator, while Herald Sun and Courier-Mail readers will have to pay an additional A$2. Electronic Arts' local arm has teamed up with the east coast publications to distribute the full version software for the first time in Australia

The give-away is the first time the full-version will be available in Australia and is a one-time offer, only available with this Saturday's paper. The software was originally released last month and within 24 hours of its release, saw over 260,000 creatures uploaded to the game's online service--Sporepedia. The disc also comes with what an EA spokesperson has called an "AU$15 off per-order at EB [Games stores]", but refused to go into more detail.

The Spore Creature Creator allows players to create, customise, and design their life forms anyway they want. When it was first released in Australia, the Spore Creature Creator only contained 25 per cent of the full anatomy catalogue. Unlike other countries, where they could purchase the other 75 per cent online, that option was not available to Aussie bioengineers.

As this is the only way to get your hands on the full version of Spore Creature Creator, five Australian states are unfortunately missing out. People who live in the Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia will miss out unless their newsagent carries any of the mentioned publications. Until then they'll have to wait for Spore Creature Creator's release on September 4.

As per normal.... SA misses out. What's so special about the East coast anyway? For once I would like to see some promo like this that goes to the other states - see how QLD, NSW and VIC would like it!

I live in TAS although you can get it from Woolworths.

It's not free and it's not the full version. It's two bucks extra and you get "an exclusive preview" of the "first phase" of the game, plus a $15 off discount from EB Games for the full version.

Shwa86, GTA4 was not rejected from OFLC at all, it was Rockstar who submitted an edited version claiming that it was the proper uncensored version. OFLC only received one version and it passed censorship due to Rockstar's self-censoring.

I really hope it has the mac version not just the pc version of Spore.

Hahahaha... wtf is all this crap about Aus? Our computer parts are priced pretty well, you just have to know good places. As for Fallout 3, it'll probably be edited and released a little later than normal. GTA4 was rejected 1st round too.

For those bitter beings that feel that are so petty and insecure about Australia that they see the need to criticize us. 1) Computer parts here are comparable to elsewhere 2) While in the past we have had to wait for some releases longer than normal generally we get them at the same time as Europe (often a few days before America even) 3)Fallout 3 is the only good/hyped game that Australia will miss Although I will concede we pay a lot more for games themselves on average.

What's the problem with gamers are they really that elitist that they must degrade people who get something for less/cheaper than what they did... And this will make you guys happy it's not free it's $2 on top of the price of the paper, that's around $US2.05, for those keeping score

those Aussies get screwed with the release dates on a bunch of games so even though i paid for mine I think it's good 4 them... Go Rabbits

Well this is certainly surprising to see, guess i'll get the Courier-Mail Saturday. While I never trust E.B. employees I heard that morphine in Fallout 3 got a name change to pass the ratings board here, so please if your gonna **** about the ban please do it in a relevant article. Besides everyone has here has internet so just import the PC version.

Vito, what does that have to do with anything? Is it worth Fallout 3? You numb skull, it has nothing at all to do with it. This is a great little idea to get a lot of people into a game that is going to rock. Of course I want F3. I am mad as hell that it is not out, but Spore has nothing to do with the game being band down here. An you might want to go and have a word with your local EB. Apparently you are able to order F3. I spoke to a dude there and he said that the supplier is in fact bringing them in. So maybe, just maybe Fallout is coming to Australia after all.

I'm confused. The Daily Telegraph comes out weekdays, not Saturdays, That's the Saturday Telegraph. The Herald Sun comes out on Sundays, do they mean the Sydney Morning Herald?

I was wondering what that ad in the mx meant (it's a newspaper us NSW and I think Victorians? get at train stations). Wasn't sure if it was a full release or just the demo they were gonna hand out.

i hope no one complains because really, they don't even have ROCK BAND YET while we got that like a year ago, so I think they deserve this, it may not sound as good but trust me, this program is really awesome it even made some of my friends who doubted the game to really be any good to wanting it first day after i showed it to them, way better then free pc download version.
