Aussie game charts: October 23-29

The Sims 2: Pets makes it to number one on the Aussie charts; PC titles take three of the top 10 positions.

It seems bullies can't match it against cute puppies and kittens, at least in Australia anyway. Rockstar Game's latest controversy magnet, Canis Canem Edit (known as Bully in the US), only managed to make it to number three in its first week of release down under, with EA's latest Sims add-on, The Sims 2: Pets, bounding its way to number one on the latest game-sales charts.

The Sims 2: Pets topped the overall top 10 list in Australia for the week of October 23 to October 29, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for the DS was Nintendo's highest entry into the overall top 10 this week, nabbing second place.

PC games featured strongly in this week's top 10, with Battlefield 2142 and Flight Simulator X coming in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. The Xbox 360 had a sole entrant in the top 10--Splinter Cell Double Agent.

At last 3 PC games in top 10. And the first is... a Sims 2. What a surprise!

Sorry to burst the whole PC bubble goin on here, but i see these charts every week and this many PC games is a rarity. A few weeks ago Nintendo had more than half the chart with DS and GBA. Usually its mostly PS2 stuff like singstar and buzz and sports games.

Wow, the PC is actually doing something down under. Bravo to you PC...Bravo...

"Genuine Wireless Fun Pack" What the heck is that?!

Its because PC games, and PC's as a whole are much cheaper in Australia, and well quite popular. Guess its the same as Europe really. We like PC. PS3 is $750 USD in Australia. Wahoo. Actually bossjimbob the reason the 360 sold so well is the amount of people playing games in Austrlia has gone up a huge % since the PS2 release. 75% - of Australians have a console - play PC games. I read a report on the 360 selling 'well' here in Aus, and it compares it to the PS2 launch, whenalot less percentage of Australians played video games. Turns out if the PS2 was released at the % of Australians playing video games, the numbers would have been huge. I kid you not.

Genuine Wireless fun pack. I think I saw one of them at Adultshop. ;)

OMG PC rulezzzz in australia !

What the heck is the Genuine Wireless fun pack?

Like the fact that they now have top 10 for Aussie. Just another example of how good this website is.

Well, looking at the charts, Australians really love PC's and not really enjoy handhelds much ...

pokemon blue rescue team...i think the series is getting way out of hand

hey I wouldn't even look at Canis Canem Edit if I wasn't a fanboy on the net, if I didn't know it was Bully in disguise I would think it sounded like a paint program or document editor. I know they had to change the name but which genius thought of that name

Of course SCDA is gonna sell. Its a great game from a great series and to be honest, us X360 owners in Oz are starving for great games. Your right but, good job cracking the top 10. Patience Bathy, GoW and RB6 are just around the corner.

Bloody kids!!!! I bet if bully had ad space on tv it would be at number 1! But noooooooo all these stupid kids ask there mummys and daddys for game about pets, PETS!!! Go and buy a hampster or a bird it'll cost ya less and it will let us big boys have a say for ounce!!!

LOL, the one breaking records is the DS

Quote: KeyWii "360 is flopping...again" Ah, another insightful comment from someone who knows absolutely nothing about economics. Considering that the 360 only has an installed base of 100k units in Australia, yet can still crack the top ten list is a pretty major feat. That means it has a really high software attach rate per console. When you compare that to something like the PS2 which has been out for years and has a much higher installed base, the 360 is stacking up quite nicely. Do your homework before posting such garbage.
