Aussie game charts: November 30-December 6

New Super Mario Bros. Wii maintains top spot, while Modern Warfare 2 stands up against an onslaught of Wii casual games.

by

New Super Mario Bros. Wii remains in first place in the sales charts down under for the third week in a row, according to data trackers GfK Australia. The only other big end of year release to make it into the top 10 is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in the sixth and ninth positions, respectively.

Both Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus saw a leap in the charts, moving up into the second and third places respectively, for the week of November 30 to December 6. Despite being more than a year old and getting critically panned, Carnival Games: Mini-Golf makes a comeback, landing at number five. Other games to make it into the top 10 include the usual lineup of Mario Kart Wii, Cricket, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

I like how gamespot posted the article with a title implying that Modern Warfare 2 is not casual, maybe when compared to wii fit, but other than that Modern Warfare 2 is so casual that it sucks the creativity and complexity out of every gamer and common sense out of reviewers apparently.

@benboz - LoL... Too much time spent listening to techno on iPod and thrashin' out on CoD:MW to bother with Twilight and a Wii...?

Look at these PS3/Xbox fanboys crying that Wii is winning.

@pattyp77 I only got a ipod and MW2. I do not want a wii or stupid twlight stuff. Not everyone in australia would agree with that list.

Yup - In Australia everyone has: 1) iPod 2) iPhone 3) Wii 4) CoD: Modern Warefare 5) Twilight Saga Underpants We are absolute gimick/fad junkies... If its on TV, a billboard, and a website... We'll buy it :)

The games which dominate the charts here have strong tv advertising (look at the top DS title, it was advertised non stop all week). Yet no advertising for many big titles, especially for the 360/PS3.

Bloody wii games......good to see the PS3 version of MW2 is outselling the 360 though...That'll get the fanboys going..........And yes I have both systems
