Aussie game charts: May 21-May 27

Jack Sparrow and his pirate pals claim the charts down under.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End for the PlayStation 2 has jumped straight to number one in Australia's overall top 10 game sales charts. The latest adventures of Jack Sparrow finished off God of War II's three-week chart reign at the top and also featured prominently in the Wii, Xbox 360, and PSP-specific charts.

Sony dominated the charts for the week of May 21 to May 27, with six out of the top 10 games appearing on a Sony console--five of which are published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Buzz!: The Mega Quiz had two entries--the stand-alone game debuted at number two and the bundled edition (which includes buzzers) landed at number seven. Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars continues to sell strongly, with the Xbox 360 version of the game coming in at third spot, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

The Nintendo DS had a successful week with Animal Crossing: Wild World taking out fourth spot, Diddy Kong Racing DS in fifth, and Mario Kart DS finishing in 10th position.

Sad to see that there are a lot of suckers for the boring game with an utterly abysmal premise (& an uncreative one at that!) game that is Resistance: Fall of Man.

"Amen to that. Why is it that the AU charts are posted every week? We rarely see any other charts, and NEVER any EU charts" All the other charts are posted seperately. If you look down the bottom of the main news page you will see 'US rentals', 'US Console sales', 'US PC', UK sales', and 'Japan sales' charts. As for European charts, they should be here too, I don't see why they aren't. And as for all the Aus stuff here recently, Gamespot AU has grown in size significantly in the last few months.

Tyralyon "Why are the OZ charts always posted? I never see the Europe chartson here." Amen to that. Why is it that the AU charts are posted every week? We rarely see any other charts, and NEVER any EU charts. It's not just the charts though, it's been a LOT of AU stuff on GS lately. How come? Well, that is because we are cool, and we r gamers :D And GO Sony FTW :D

I agree with Bronson2k3 in terms that Blue Ray disks are too expensive and why should anyone bother F.E.A.R? I also agree with him because he has a kick ass avatar - go star wars :)

PS3 is going from embarrasing to too-embarrasing. How long can Sony fundamentalists keep on eating its BS of wait..., wait..., next year..., TBA..., TBD... . By the time PS3 has games we'll all be playing Xbox720 and Wii2. Fellow gamers: the future is now! Jump In!

lame that pirates is on top and i can't believe Australia still has motorstorm and resistance in the top 10 for weeks now. they must be one of only few countries in the world that still have these games in the top 20, let alone in the top ten. a boring chart!

Did anyone notice Pokemon Ruby is still over A$40? Besides that why on earth would you buy Ruby for thee same price as emerald, which is basically the same game with more features... Here in the Netherlands R&S sell for 50 euros whilst emerald being 40 euros. And do people still buy xbox games? My God, game retailers sure are ripping us off.

I think the fact that Aussies get totally ripped off re the pricing of 360 and PS3 games affects the sales charts. Aussie gamers, boycott the local shysters and buy from overseas sources via the net!

No surprise, we have over 2 million PS2 owners so we will keep getting poor quality games on top of the sales charts.
