Aussie game charts: July 21-27

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games claims gold a week before Beijing begins.

by

With just over a week to go until the official opening of the Beijing Olympic Games, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Nintendo DS is already waving the flag, claiming the top spot in the Aussie sales charts according to data trackers GfK. A spokesperson for GfK Australia confirmed to GameSpot AU that the spike can be attributed to last week's Target offer, which bundled the game with Nintendo DS consoles.

Second place for the week of July 21-27 went to Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga on the Wii, which was also bundled with the Wii in last week's Target catalogue. The Wii Play bundle, which comes with a Wii Remote, came in at third, while Wii Fit sits just below it in fourth. Taking out the fifth spot was the SingStar Party Hits bundle on the PlayStation 2. Mario Kart Wii fell three spots from last week, taking out the sixth place. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? can be found in seventh spot, with Super Smash Bros. sitting behind it in eighth. More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima: How Old Is Your Brain? moved up one position, to take out the ninth spot. Tenth place went to the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

It shows the casual audience is quiet large for Nintendo thats why Super Smash Bros Brawl is in 8th and thats a much better game than Mario and Sonic At the Olympic Games.

as a gamer I find most of this list very depressing reading!at least the ps3 and 360 charts are decent but they should be up in the top tens. come on australia get your act together!

It's a sad time to be a PC gamer with 6 of the top 10 being the Sims 2 + expansions. Who the hell keeps buying them, I thought that everyone who lived there life through the sims already owned a copy

No 'next-gen' games in the top ten, but a PS2 game is? I think a lot of parents must have been on a buying spree.

I am quite honestly ashamed to be an Aussie gamer right now. Why so much casual rubbish? Mario and Sonic, on DS? Come on.
