Aussie game charts: January 11-17

The house of Mario continues to hold the top five spots, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 slips down the rung.

2009 may have been all about Wii Fit, but so far it's one of Nintendo's other chart favourites that has dominated the new year in Australia: Mario Kart Wii. Last week was the second in a row that Mario's popular racing spin-off was at the top of the overall Australian game charts, according to industry trackers GfK Australia.

Nintendo still holds onto the top five games, but there was a slight reshuffle amongst New Super Mario Bros. and Wii Play, which moved up into third and fourth place, while Wii Sports Resort dropped down to number five. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PlayStation 3 dropped down one spot (to seventh place); meanwhile, its Xbox 360 cousin fared slightly worse, scraping in at number nine. The 10th spot goes to newcomer Army of Two: The 40th Day for the Xbox 360.
