Aussie game charts: April 28-May 4

GTAIV for the 360 takes out first place, PS3 second.

Given the large turnout of gamers at midnight launches around Australia last week, it comes as no surprise to see Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV at the number one and two spots in the overall Australian game charts, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Although a GfK Australia spokesperson declined to disclose specific sales numbers, he told GameSpot AU that the Xbox 360/PS3 split was similar to UK sales numbers. Last week, it was reported that 55 percent of all GTAIV sales in the UK were for the Xbox 360, with the remaining 45 percent being on the PlayStation 3.

Mario Kart Wii, the previous week's number one, has been knocked down to number three for the week of April 28-May 4. The Wii Play bundle has made a return, taking out fourth place. Despite not being tracked as a full-priced game for the last two weeks, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has also returned to the chart, in the sixth spot. The two Brain Training games for the Nintendo DS have taken out seventh and eighth places, respectively, whereas Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Wii is at number nine. Finishing up the week is Sight Training: Enjoy Exercising and Relaxing Your Eyes in 10th position.

In other charts news, God of War: Chains of Olympus continues to dominate the PSP chart, spending another week at the top of the platform-specific chart.

CoD4 on the 360 has returned to being outsold by Halo 3 for the last few weeks..

It's selling more on 360 simply because Australia, like most other countries, have more 360 gamers than PS3.Another thing is, unlike most other countries, the 360 is even outselling the Wii.360 gamers also tend to buy more games...all that adds up to 360 getting the top end of sales on multiplatform games even if they're the same on other systems. But then there's Xbox Live and all the exclusives,so.....

Time crisis is way too short to warrant a purchase, its about the lenght of a demo, Namco should be ashamed to price this game so high, as if a real full lenght game. Im also surprised to see Army of Two in the top 10, a game of such poor quality doesn't deserve those sales and EA is NOT taking enough heat for releasing such a mediocre game. I can't explain why gamers still buy sub-par games like these and encourage the shoveling of more crap into our stores, games like GTA 4, Gears of War and Bioshock raised the bar for the entire industry but it seems that a lot of gamers standards are still VERY low. Though im guessing they are not the more hardcore, more informed gamers who visite this website.

i'd really like to see worldwide 360/PS3 GTA IV sales. Everyone expected 360 to sell more in America but Europe is Sonyland so worldwide will be interesting.
