The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD adds a new hero mode, described as being aimed at long-time fans of the series.

In hero mode, all enemies will do double damage and no hearts can be found in the environment. The mode can be toggled on or off when a save file is loaded.

Wind Waker HD's timeline takes place a few months before The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. The game tells the story of how Link and Tetra first met, and was originally released on the GameCube in 2003.

PlayStation 3 owners can pick up the exclusive Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection this week. The bundle will be released to mark the Metal Gear franchise's 25th anniversary. It includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition (including the original MSX versions of the first two games), Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition.

Series creator Hideo Kojima addressed the reason for the PS3 exclusivity, claiming that it was not possible to ship on Xbox 360 due to size issues and describing the amount of data in MGS4 as "just too enormous"

"I want to put [The Legacy Collection] out [on Xbox 360]," Kojima said. "But we won't be releasing it. When it's the next [Xbox] console, maybe we can release [The Legacy Collection or Metal Gear Solid 4]."

An upcoming Metal Gear Solid game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game currently does not have a confirmed launch date.
