After numerous delays, first-person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines will finally be making its way to 360, PS3, and PC platforms. The game was originally slated for an early 2012 release date. Sega and Gearbox Software later pushed it to a Q3 2012 release, before finally confirming that the game would hit shelves in 2013.
The story of Aliens: Colonial Marines picks up shortly after the events of the 1986 sci-fi film Aliens. Players will join a squad of the titular space soldiers who board the USS Sulaco, the spaceship from the film, after it has apparently been abandoned.
From there, the action will spread to the surface of the planet LV-426 and its main settlement, Hadley's Hope. The first-person shooter will also feature environments and weapons inspired by the film.
The game is the third title to be published by Sega in the Aliens universe, preceded by Aliens vs. Predator and Aliens: Infestation in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Aliens: Colonial Marines is set for release on February 12 on the 360, PS3, and PC. A Wii U release--alleged to be the best-looking version--is also planned, but no release date has been announced.
