AU New Releases: Thief sneaking down under

Step into the shoes of a master thief or powerful vampire in this week's new releases.

Master thief Garret steps out from the shadows this week with the Australian release of Thief creeping on to shelves.

The stealth game is a reboot of the classic Thief series, which consisted of Thief: The Dark Project, Thief II: The Metal Age, and Thief: Deadly Shadows.

The game sees the return of series protagonist Garrett. Players step into the quiet shoes of Garrett as he steals his way through a dark Victorian city. The game will be released for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Art technical director Jean-Normand Bucci previously said that the game will look better on the PC than on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. He explained that while Thief for the new systems from Microsoft and Sony will deliver "much more" than what console gamers have come to expect, the PC version will go even further.

For more on Thief, check out GameSpot's recent preview.

Fans of the Castlevania series may be more interested in the return of Dracula in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 this week. The game will be the first in the series that will feature Dracula as the playable protagonist.

Lords of Shadow 2 is the final game in the Lords of Shadow arc, and will conclude the saga's storyline. Game producer Dave Cox told GameSpot in a recent interview that the game will "keep players guessing right till the very end".

Those considering the PC version should know that whatever place you buy the game from it ends up on Steam. While Steam sells the game supposedly 10% less than MSRP, like many online retailers, a few sells the game for even less. Bought the game at 25% off at Get Games. Greenman Gaming might have it for 25% off also, you'll have to check. You can try elsewhere and might get luckier. It's the difference between paying $37.50 for a PC version versus paying $60+ for the console version.

I bet LoS2 will keep us guessing whether the game gets better later.

Preordered on PS4.  I'm sure it will be good. I asked a retailer why the PS4 version is $10 more than the PS3 version.  I was told a nextgen Bluray costs more to manufacture. It was a LOL moment.

Screenshot makes me think there could be coop multiplayer. Haven't followed a lot of this game so if that is true then this is new and interesting.

I aint paying $99 for Thief at Australian Game Retailers because we all know its going to be sub-par quality.

MAYBE worth buying if you combine shipping some of next months games from Amazon like imfamous and metal gear next month... if you shipped 3 items you can get them for like $73 per item (including divided shipping)... rather than $100 in oz. (metal gear would be like $48 instead of $70).

Thats 59.95 USD * 1.1 (Aus conversion) + (22 / 3) (Aus Shipping).

Also a possibility to just download through the NA PSN store if you have NBN. Especially considering i think the digital copy of metal gear is like 30 USD (33 AUD)... if you just got from the market place... thats a 50% saving from EB Games.

@robbiejones @jeremy-  Thief is better value on ozgameshop there than amazon. However, 99% of the Xbone and PS4 games there seem the 80 mark.

If you factor in that most NA games are 59.95 USD... (66 AUD)... 80 per unit is still not quite right.

So thats $14 for shipping per item. Still a little pricey.

I would still advise downloading Metal Gear for $33 AUD on the US PSN rather than paying $48 AUD on ozgameshop.

I would still advise on buying games from amazon if you buy more than 3 at a time and combine shipping. (Its technically better value at 2 but negligible).

This is working under the assumption that ozgameshop works out of ireland and is a different region so still carries the same region issues for DLC etc. If they sold native region games it would be a totally different story.

@robbiejones @Warlord_Irochi  Interestingly.... with the combined shipping option... I assumed it would send every package at the end of next month when all align.. however... its sending the packages seperately because they are spaced too far apart to be combined. This means the combined option lead to a huge discount on shipping.

The ETA on my package is up to 3rd March (5 business days). Not bad amazon.

@jeremy- How about www.videogamesplus.ca ?? They are from Canada and the dolar change rate makes it a extremelly appealing alternative.
For € countrie in europe, at least, is the best source for collector's editions and/or games that take forever or are never released here.
