Atlus imports robots and role-playing

Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation series and Contact on the way for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, respectively.

The long-running Super Robot Taisen series is set to make its North American debut, as Atlus USA has announced it is bringing over Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation for the Game Boy Advance, alongside the Nintendo DS role-playing game Contact.

Super Robot Taisen (also known as Super Robot Wars) pits giant robots against each other in strategy role-playing combat, although the brutality of a robot war is somewhat offset by the series' "superdeformed" art style. Atlus has scheduled Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation for release in the summer, with Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 to follow in the fall.

Developed by Grasshopper (the studio behind Killer 7), Contact tells the story of a professor, whose spaceship crashes on a strange world, and Terry, the young man who helps him gather the necessary parts to fix the craft and escape the alien world. Featuring character designs by Atsuko Fukushima (PoPoLoCrois), Contact will feature support for Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection and is slated for a summer release.
