TOKYO--Atlus says it has canceled development of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children Messiah Riser, Dengeki Online reports today. Atlus originally announced the GBA title back in October. The title had been scheduled for a 2004 release.

Dengeki says Atlus came to the decision after reevaluating how to operate its business since taking over Takara's console game operations last month. After reexamining the market environment, Atlus concluded that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children Messiah Riser would not meet the demands of gamers.

Atlus has also canceled Takara's EX Nihon Tokkyu Ryokou, a PS2 title (based on a board game) where players plot travels throughout the continent of Japan.
