Atari conjures up LE Neverwinter Nights 2

Special Edition of D&D-based role-playing game to include in-game goody, real-world trinkets for $59.99.

When it comes to fantasy fans, there's no such thing as too many collectibles. Atari knows this and has confirmed that the Neverwinter Nights 2 Limited Edition will go on sale alongside the standard version on October 17. This may not be a surprise to hardcore fans of the PC game, as online retailers had product listings for the special set last month. The $59.99 limited edition will include a new in-game feat, a cloth map of the game's world, an art book, and "two silver antique rings." Neverwinter Nights 2 is rated T for Teen.

Just a little FYI for all you haters of T rated games. You can bypass all that petty unneccessary rating restrictions and whatnot by ordering the European version of any game that comes out. The European versions of most games aren't slimmed down or made "content sensitive" like those sold in America. If you like brothels, nudity, large blood content and mature themes in a game your playing, then get it from overseas. Yeah, the wait is a little longer, but most games sold in the European Union don't have to censor games like America makes developers and publishers do for American releases. I've ordered many European releases over the years and by far, they are better (contain original dialogue, scenes, etc) than their American counterparts. In some, in only small ways, in others, in large ways. ie, I just received Gothic 3 from overseas, it contains quite a bit of scenes and dialogue and whatnot that will not be released in the Amercan version. Something to think about if you have the patience to wait and spend the couple extra bucks to have it shipped over.

Its a pity that offers like that only happens in the USA. We, here in South America only had to seat, and watch the good thing pass by us

At last, learning from retro (which is getting so HUGE!), shame it has to be only in 'special edition'. Would be better to make this the standard and just raise the normal price by a couple of bucks to pay for it. In the old days you didn't pay more for these extras they were put in because the publishers knew it would help sell more copies and create 'hobbiests' rather than just 'gamers'. The extra sales garnered would generate the extra cash and also grow the market - a double benefit they knew about 20 years ago that has been forgotten in a PC gaming market that is 1/3 the size now! (Maybe something to learn there?!)

@ wheelercub: nope, it's meant for SP primarily, it would be pretty unfair if you had it online, but builders can enable or disable it at will. That's how it sounded to me. Oh and uhm you don't get 2 rings in one box, there's 2 version: Good and Evil. Both have a different ring and also a different figurine.

Dragonstring11 - I think the point of the bonus junk like the +1 save aura is not necessarily for the single player game; but for the online version of NWN2 so you can "show off" to people. Either way, the original online version of NWN was so popular that it still has a massive following to this day. I personally never finished the single player game on any version of NWN because I discovered online play. For each version, I always got 3/4 through the solo game before I had to peek at the online persistant worlds. Some of them were amazing also and had massive numbers of players waiting online for the chance to get into the world.

I've never heard of anyone giving out exclusive in-game stuff for a single-player game. Am i missing something? IMO the NVN series is the greatest RPG series in the history of gaming, and i'm not sure if my heart could take a crappy sequel. Lets see if Obsidian can hold up to the incredible legacy of Bioware.

gamepro, they're talking about real physical rings...ones that you can put on your own fingers.

i think that all the in game stuff is cool or whatever, but u'll end up trashing the rings to make room in your loot bag and the aura will prob just get about as annoying as the stupid pet you recieved with the WOW special eddition..everyone had them running around the first week and then you never saw them again...i'll stick to the reg version....oh and Earth...i feel the same way about the game being "T" i want more blood too, you should check out this artical GS just put up about a game called 2moons comming out. Its a remake of some korean MMO and you wont have to pay monthly for it...so i'm thinkin Guild Wars on sterioids :)

This is Atari's big game. There is no way Neverwinter Nights won't sell bucketloads.

Eh, I'm just gonna stick with the regular version. I'm not into all that collectibles stuff.
