Assassin's Creed prowling PCs in March

Director's Cut Edition adds in four exclusive, new missions to Ubisoft's multiplatinum-selling action platformer.

Considering the initial controversy surrounding the exclusivity status of Assassin's Creed, it's more than a bit amusing that Ubisoft had a mind for an extensive multiplatform release all along. Through the end of its fiscal third quarter, the publisher has sold more than 5 million combined units of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of the game and just recently released a Gameloft-developed Nintendo DS prequel spin-off to accompany its mobile version let out to prowl last year.

Today, Ubisoft confirmed that the PC version of its Montreal studio's parkour-inspired opus will take to the streets in March in North America and Europe. Titled Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition, the PC version of the game will offer a few more opportunities for mayhem to make up for trailing its console counterparts. Though the publisher was mum on specific details, Ubisoft did say that the game will feature four additional missions exclusive to the PC version.

Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition will retail for $49.99 and has been rated M for Mature. For a taste of the Third Century clandestine action, check out GameSpot's previous coverage and review of the console editions.

Just checked out another site for system requirements, it is 1GB RAM for windows XP, 2GB RAM for windows Vista. And I hope that after all this extra time the game has little to no bugs or glitches.

I'm pretty sure that the game is already finished. For some reason they are delaying the game. Very curious.

Blame pirates like modemmack for the PC version being late. UBI knows that for every copy sold on the PC, ten are pirated. That's why PC games are only a tenth of all games sales these days.

MaceKhan
MaceKhan

That doesn't make any sense, PC gamers are gonna buy the PC version, x360 gamers are gonna buy the x360 version, and PS3 gamers are gonna buy the PS3 version. So my opinion is, an intentional delay just doesn't make any sense.

If they lose money because of cloned copies good. Those jerks should have released it with the other versions. The game was complete at the same time I bet, but held it longer because it's $10 cheaper. Now they won't even get 39.99. Jerks. I'll wait though. Jerks.

The game was born on a PC, yet they can't release it in a timely manner. I wonder if they're just delaying to work out copy protection? It sucks hard I must say.

Any idea if this will work with an xbox 360 control pad for PC. I downloaded cod4 and it has no support for gamepads....bloody hell

First they delay the game like, what, 5-6 times? And then they give us crazy system requirements which are higher than Crysis?! How can the consoles run this game then? Wtf... The PC port better be amazingly good, or I'm going to send some serious hatemail to Ubisoft.

Yougamers.com lists the recommend RAM @ 3.0GHz! Gone are the days of "2GB is enough". Vista can use up to 16GB and it will eat up a full 1GB just for it's self so 4GB sounds like the way to go now. Glad I jumped up to 4GB when I bought Vista.

sweet. Can't wait to play this game.I have a single Nvidia 8800 ultra. But for my good result my parents decided to buy me a another 8800 ultra. And one thing Pc gaming industry is not dying.Lets look Crysis it reach platinum status.Means sold 1 million copies, and it is still selling. Its true.Because pc gaming industry is small inU.S.A.But in europe and asia pc gaming industry is bigger than console.I live in Germany And it is still number 3 top selling games. So pc is not dying. And oner thing Microsoft released halo 3 for pc as early as possible.Bye
