Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag preorder bonuses and special editions detailed

Ubisoft offering extra content for preorders in the US and four different special editions in the UK.

Ubisoft has detailed the various preorder bonuses and special editions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

In North America, customers who preorder Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag at GameStop will gain access to The Black Island Pack. This gives players an additional treasure-hunting quest at Black Island, access to the Black Ship, special silver flintlock pistols used by Captain Morgan for single-player, and additional Captain Morgan items for use in multiplayer. Customers will also get a poster designed by comic artist Todd McFarlane.

In Europe, four additional versions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag are being made available: the Special Edition, Skull Edition, Buccaneer Edition, and Black Chest Edition.

The Black Chest Edition is exclusive to the Uplay store and comes with a 55cm model of protagonist Captain Edward Kenway on the bow of his ship, the Jackdaw. There's also a parchment copy of the game's world map, and a real-life replica of the Black Flag. A steelbook copy of the game is also included, which contains an artbook, a soundtrack, two lithograph and two canvas prints, and unspecified additional in-game content. The contents are enclosed in a custom, special-edition box.

The Buccaneer Edition, meanwhile, is exclusive to Game in the UK and GameStop in Ireland. It contains the Edward Kenway figurine, artbook, soundtrack, two lithograph prints, a collector's box, and additional content.

The Skull Edition, which is available across all participating retailers, includes a jumbo steel case alongside the artbook, soundtrack, in-game content, and two lithograph prints.

Ubisoft's Uplay Store is pricing the Black Chest Edition at £109.99, the Buccaneer Edition at £69.99, and the Skull Edition at £54.99.

Finally, there's the Special Edition, which contains exclusive content and is available only through Game in the UK and XtraVision in Ireland. It's available at standard RRP for customers who preorder the game, and promises additional content at launch.

Additionally, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game are also set to come with 60 minutes of additional content exclusive to Sony platforms.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U this October. Ubisoft has also released the first gameplay footage of the game.

I just need to get the F*****g black chest thing for my roomate, but that seems to be impossible. Yes I live in the US, but is there a way to get it smuggled in or something so that the bitchy Ubisoft people dont flip out?

Not syked about spending another $60 for it, but still like the story line and change of scenery- already reserved my copy. Love AC.

If  Assasins Creed brotherhood and Revelations would have been 1 game, and they would have skipped Assasins Creed 3 I WOULD BE SO FRIKIN EXITED FOR THIS GAME....now theyre just milking it. Assasins Creed used to be such an epic saga, now its just a meh.

so let me get this straight, there are going to be no special editions available in North America except the uplay one?

They are going to kill this franchise with putting them out so fast. These games get boring at times trying to chase down things or theses stupid race things. They need to back off or it will be dead.

I still prefer some hardcore game like Age of Wushu, EVE online, etc.

Well, seriously, there´s something messing with my head for some time. I mean, we have been shown pics and now vids, showing Edward with his swords and pistols, but...I don´t see the holsters of the 2 back pistols. We just see them there hanging...At least Connor had holsters. This is strange

There aren't enough editions. Maybe there can be a Multiplayer-only edition? (one can only hope)

Hey, here is an idea. Just put the game out...one version, everyone gets the same thing. No exclusive crap. Would that be a crime?

Daaaamn, I promised myself I wont be sucked in again in an AC game so soon after AC3, as there are many other games coming out, but daaaamn. I will not be able to resist. Also I loved sea battles in AC 3. Daaaaaamn.

But I have yet to complete AC3.  The only thing I'm really looking forward to for this is the fact that the PS4 release seems to be the same as the current gen consoles, so hopefully the PS4 will be out for October.

Is this guy a pirate or an assassin? WTF is up with the damned boats? What happened to the urban landscapes, the stealth?

I couldn't even finish AC3 I was so bored. Ubisoft seems to be getting confused, and are moving away from the core mechanics of the game.

Hahahaha. Talk about over saturating your market. The last game hasn't cooled with DLC and you got the pre-order scam already working Ubi? Lol.

Groundhog day.

NEVER preorder games people, have we not learned that yet?

Sheesh, why are we at the point where a game needs four bloody special editions?

Maybe less time working on extra crap most people dont care about and more time making the game better?

Who cares about special edition when this franchise is more burnt out than guitar hero.

Always nice to see that the European editions are no way no how available in the States :(. I hope the UBi people learn their lesson and give NA a good collectors edition this time instead of just a flag and a belt buckle.

Europe is getting a whole lot of love with those additional versions. I'm fine with just a standard copy though.

Still not getting it until it's thrown into the $20 pile.

It's such a pity that these days we rarely get a full game on the disc. With these different versions and no doubt numerous DLC and microtransactions on the way it really puts me off buying the game in the first place.

Next year - Assassin's Creed: Wild West. It's gonna be like RDR, only you wear an impractical white hoodie, stab dudes with a hidden blade and run on walls and trees n'shit. And when you jump into a canyon there's an eagle screech. Get a plastic horseshoe in the £99.99 Collector's Edition.

I'll be getting the "screw you ubisoft" edition, it's free

I want the Skull Edition damn it!!!!

people still buy that ish........I give up. Collectors editions are a waste and a pathetic money grab especially with the quality of games these days and their lifespan. VERY FEW collectors editions these days deserve their title!

Once again, Ubisoft screws North America out of a decent Collector's Edition.

I just pre-ordered AC5 and 6 while I was at Gamespot.....sweet!

Hopefully they offer some sort of collector's edition in the US that's good. That Black Chest edition looks pretty sweet.

Guess I won't be getting any preorder "bonuses" as I won't be preordering the game.

Retro_Squid
Retro_Squid

I remember back in the day, when you would pre-order a game to make sure you got a copy, not to get access to "additional content"... wtf is wrong with giving everyone the same f*****g game?!...

Sirrrus
Sirrrus

@DarthLod I would imagine that if the game were "vanilla" then most US PC customers would just pirate the game. Special Editions have a side benefit of persuading people to actually buy the game. (Not to mention sending pre-orders sky-high)

@LilithN It's like Sophie's Choice man. I think I'll force myself wait until the game gets a few reviews myself :D

MaestroFilipe

@Dirty_Hairy Listen man, you may be kidding but...would u believe that i tought about  that possibility of AC coming to the wild west too? Not kidding you. And be honest, wouldn´t be kinda cool in a way? A cowboy assassin? The assassins insignia in the character´s belt and all that shit... Would be cool ! Lol

Riddick123
Riddick123

@Retro_Squid They're probably still playing off of that concept to get you to buy the game.

MaestroFilipe
MaestroFilipe

And seems unfinished...Well, there´s still time until October/November.I hope because if not, i´m not buying this.I have forgiven Ubisoft for the glitch in brotherhood where the throwing knives couldn´t be seen at ezio´s waist( Besides in training VR mode or  that s h i t similar) but this i won´t forgive, i´m sorry. And note this Ubi...I love u and these series but seeing this lack of commitment( A simple holster for the 2 back pistols)that´s too much

LukeWesty
LukeWesty

@Sirrrus

Then if thats the case just add all that stuff in one standard addition. The real fact is they just want people to buy the more expensive one and get the junk.

MaestroFilipe
MaestroFilipe

On a final note...I´m one of those stupids guys that could  give u( Ubisoft) those 150.00$ so, create the fucking holsters for Edward...

vsnake48

@LukeWesty @Sirrrus WHAT?!?! You mean the companies want us to spend our money on stuff we really don't need?!?!

;)
