Assassin's Creed III MP tasked to Revelations team

Multiplayer component of upcoming stealth action game handled by France-based Annecy studio behind past games Brotherhood, Revelations.

The multiplayer component of Assassin's Creed III is being tasked to the team behind Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, according to a host of Twitter and LinkedIn profile listings (via Gamesradar).

Ubisoft Annecy is handling ACIII's multiplayer, whatever form it may take.

In addition to work on the Assassin's Creed franchise, Ubisoft Annecy designed the multiplayer components of the Splinter Cell games Pandora Tomorrow (2004), Chaos Theory (2005), and Double Agent (2007).

Little is known regarding the multiplayer component of Assassin's Creed III. If it is based on the setting of the single-player campaign, gamers can expect to traverse various sites in Colonial America during the Revolutionary War.

As of press time, Ubisoft had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment. Assassin's Creed III is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC on October 30, with a European launch pegged for Halloween.

Hehe some do not know how to play the MP ¬ They are investing heavily on the two teams SP and MP. I have good expectations for AC3, I want to surprise me with promises of Ubisoft. I love the variety of persongens the MP, are well made. If they are smart, they will make a more exciting version of the MP for fans and gamers.

Multiplayer is a waste with this kind of game. As in previous posts it is very repetitive and adds no fundamental content. Let's hope Ubisoft reads these ;)

To be honest i dont want multiplayer, its good but it gets extremely repetitive and i would rather just Ubisoft make the single player even more perfect :P

the hidden blade is there. its just that for once the 'hidden' part of its name actually means something

I don't care about MP, but there are lots of people who enjoys it so good for them. And for instance, the MP has no impact on the quality of the SP, so stop whining.

Assassin's creed: it doesn't need multiplayer

@zeldamario221 i really hope so cuz if the hidden blade isnt exist i dont know how to say that but i really cant imagine AC without that hidden blade

@Zualtea2 Ubisoft has confirmed that the hidden Blade is in this game.

@bigruffjm Agreed but unfortunately it would still require time and resources which could be used for the SP game :/ I was really hopping they got rid of the MP all together, I pre-ordered pretty much every other AC game I bought but I think I'll wait for a review on this 1 first :(

One does not simply make an Assassins Creed game without a hidden blade

Good god, please. STOP with the MP in every single freakin' game now days. The MP in AC is garbage and utterly pointless. Assassins (or people in training) who can't block and escape attacks, or defend themselves? LOL. Seriously. The MP design is horrible. In fact, everyone I know thinks it ruins the game and achievements. AC and ME belong SP games. PERIOD!

OK at this point everybody should already know that Connor DOES have a hidden blade..... anybody who thinks that they would make an assassins creed game without its most known weapon (hidden blade) is a noob.

The main strength of AC has always been single player. I believe in team that made brotherhood multiplayer and know that they'll make good game. But seriously NO CO-OP

They should focus on what made this series classic...SP & make MP a DLC option if the player wants it.

Assbro featured the freshest, best new MP model in YEARS. Assrev kept it going so I see this as steady news for Assthreed. ;)

If AC:USA multiplayer delivers lots of raccoon hats for players then I'm all for it.

i could care less about ac multiplayer and i hope that they are not using resources to develop the multiplayer that could be better used in creating the awesome single player that we had in both ac 1 and ac 2...brotherhood and revelations did far more to hurt the series than help it. hoping for some true innovation in gameplay and story.

Assassin's Creed is a SP conceptual masterpiece that jumped on the Multiplayer gravy train. They did an amazing spin on the MP perspective, but still it is a SP game all the way. +

If this doesn't revive the assassins creed series, I don't know what will, it just looks so epic! ps. I loved the multiplayer in the previous games

Scorpion1813

I think they shouldn't waste time on the Multiplayer and aim to make a better single-player experience after the sudden drop in quality for both Brotherhood and Revelations.

I think that they should hire Jagex to do the multiplayer component. Runescape is like the best game EVER!!!

@XboxGuy1537 u absolutely right i hope they will cancel the mp and just focus on the sp like assassin's creed 2 ... and if they cant cancel it cuz of money .. at least they just have to give more care to the sp not the mp .

Let's just have a think about this, the team that worked on Brotherhood and Revelations MP are working on this one. AC3 Single Player was in the works before Brotherhood and Revelations even came out, so seeing as the team wasn't working on this games MP I doubt it's going to "mess up the single player", if you don't wanna play it, then don't Simple

XboxGuy1537

Thanks, but no thanks. Assassin's Creed has always been known for the single player portion. The MP is a little fun, but it really doesn't fit in.

AC is fine without MP but some extra content doesn't hurt, besides is nice to have a different MP style besides FPS and fighting which are the must common

Even if it might be a perfectly good mutliplayer, I never thought Assassin's Creed ever needed such a thing and I keep that sentiment.

Played AC multiplayer once, immediately hated Ubisoft for wasting resources that could have gone to making Brotherhood, and especially Revelations, more robust games. I'll be happy if ACIII feels more like ACII and less like it was pared down to make room for multiplayer.

Stop making the multiplayer so noob friendly. That was the real downfall of ACR multiplayer.

Ubisoft Annecy did a very good job with the multiplayer of Brotherhood and Revelations, so I think they won't disappoint with AC3. This game may be a big leap forward for the series. off topic: Can't wait for the E3 trailer :)

ok, here come the thumbs down. this is good news to me. as much as I loved the singleplayer on Assassin's Creed games, I love the multiplayer even more (I haven't played Revelations yet). The multiplayer was such a unique concept and was so exhilarating to try and stealthily chase down your target. The upgrades were nice and the map designs played perfectly to the highlights of the mode. Overall, Brotherhood multiplayer is most likely the best multiplayer (other than splitscreen classics like 007 and Smash Bros. with friends) I have ever played. And I am VERY much looking forward to new multiplayer. Plus new singleplayer.

SerOlmy

Should be in decent hands then. Even though I am not super thrilled with the changes they made in Revelations. Will have to wait and see I guess.

dxBIGBOSSxb
dxBIGBOSSxb

looking forward to it, though I could care less about the MP as long as it stays true to the AC style of being an open-world sandbox game with a nice and lengthy story... which is something I can't say about Revelations which was so absurdly short, it felt the MP was the main focus, and that just "Rustles my Jimmies", if you know what I mean.

Rocker6
Rocker6

Why even have this tacked on MP mode? AC was always all about its lengthy and great SP campaing, and it would be much more useful to use the MP money to fix some mildly annoying glitches like various clipping issues, falling through the floor,etc...

PlatinumPaladin

@paxv1 Brotherhood was originally meant to be the multiplayer component of the series. Then they threw in the single player component and before you knew it they'd milked Ezio of all he's worth. I think that's why folk take issue with Assassin's Creed's multiplayer. I personally wouldn't have bought Brotherhood if it was mp only, but I got suckered in to it because of the single player and since then I feel Ubisoft have done a barely adequate job of both single- and multi-player aspects of the game. Hopefully if III's mp is being handled by Revelations' team this should mean the single player will return to form as it will have the original team's full attention.

Anyone know if the PC version will be "optomized" or just ported over like usual? I'm tempted to give it a shot on pc, especially if DX11 effects are used, because it'd be so insane to see.
