Assassin's Creed II DLC priced, detailed

Battle of Forli sees Ezio march with Machiavelli in late January for $4, Bonfire of the Vanities lighting in late February for $5.

Ubisoft was light on details when it teased the first batch of downloadable content for Assassin's Creed II two weeks ago. At the time, the French publisher confirmed only that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers can rejoin Ezio in late January's Battle of Forli and then again in late February's Bonfire of the Vanities.

Today, Ubisoft offered additional details and pricing information on the two DLC packs. Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities slot in as Sequence 12 and 13 in the Assassin's Creed II continuum--the two "corrupted" data files the game skips just before the finale. The first new sequence will be available for $4 (MSP320), while the second add-on costs $5 (MSP400).

By Sequence 13, Ezio is able to escape the authorities by hiding among corpses. He just has to make them first.

Battle of Forli sees Ezio teaming up with Niccolo Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza in an effort to withstand the Templars' siege of Forli. The DLC pack includes six new memories, and players will also be able to pilot Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine over Romagna.

Sequence 13--aka Bonfire of the Vanities--again sees Ezio teaming with Machiavelli as they work to subvert the evil machinations of the monk Savonarola. The add-on pack includes 10 memories to work through, a spring-jump ability for Ezio, and it also unlocks a new district in Florence.

umm...just re-do the sequence where you use the flying machine....i actually prefer the "uplay" where you earn points and buy things for the points...however, i'm looking forward for some multiplayer co-op/ battle action for AC2...

I can't wait for this DLC! I missed the flying trophy and this is another chance. It's the only trophy left that I need for the platinum trophy!

@builtforsin thats true but i would argue against it in this case. the devs took these two memories out of the game because they felt they detracted from the story and pacing up until that point. now, they can be played by people who enjoyed the game enough to want to go back in for more. on the other hand, a game like re5, where the devs developed a versus, made us pay 5 bucks for what should have been included (and in fact was) on the original disc.

I had 20 dollars online waiting for DLC but now that I know it's this cheap I can spend 10 bucks and still get both...you gotta love ubisoft!!!

@eastcoasteric - Basically, no.. we are not. Especially in the age of quick DLC over full fledged expansions. As the profit margins increase for DLC the overall scale of content offered in the "base" version of a given game will only deteriorate. The only way to stop this trend is if gamer's stop overpaying for the marginal content offered in modern DLC.. and I just dont see that happening any time soon.

this is awesome, i got assassins creed 2 right when it came out and im finished it so this will b good especially at its price @eastcoasteric i think they just want people to get more time out of their games, they know people will finish the game quickly and want more so they add DLC soon

What's with games and DLC coming to light after like 2-4 weeks after release now for every game? It almost seems as if while they were making the game they just "snipped" out a part or two and put them aside as DLC later on in the game. I love DLC don't get me wrong but the tactics of gaming companies lately have left me in question with the question of "are we really getting our moneys worth?"

@ShroudedEagle I agree: I don't think we have to start a new game only to play these DLC. I think these two pack of memories can be played at any moment of the game even if we already finished it. If it's not the case, well shame on them.

10 bucks or so for both DLC? Just love Ubisoft Montreal!

these were left out intentionally due to time and other obstacles, i'm glad they have a low price tho, they don't seem like they'd be worth more than 10 bucks we'll see if i have extra MSPs to spend when these come out, I loved AC2 and a little more of it couldn't hurt.

@buffdaddy69 I totally agree with you yep its either get it while its hot or wait and get deal FYI i saw yesterday Fallout GOTY at Best Buy for $40, This is what i do, I usually buy games ASAP if i like them, as soon as they come out, but i take my time with DLCs . i play new game few weeks and when i am done and i know i will not play it for a while i sell it on ebay for $40+ then when DLC comes out within few months and i feel like i need to play that too ( if it comes out at all) i buy game back for $20 ( since game is not as hot as it was when it came out) and then buy DLC of xbox live or just buy GOTY edition. So i actually get DLC for free or usually earn few $ . Hope this helps lol

@ShadowOfKratos They'll probably let you do that, considering these episodes take place before sequence 14... And if Ubisoft didn't, that means players would have to replay the whole story just to play the new sequences, something they wouldn't be happy about at all.

Ok I want these, but I also want to be able to replay my main story missions from the DNA menu...

Great! Its just the perfect time to release it too, im intrigued to find out what happens. And DLC stuff is not there to rip customers off or intentionally left out of the game. Most of the time, due to time constraints etc. DLC is just a way to breathe new life into a game that you still love to play. This downloaded content is cheaper then my work breaks lunches sometimes.

I was hoping they would add a whole new city (along with new missions to accompany it), that would be worth 4-5$. Perhaps Rome or Naples would make great DLC cities (though Rome would be even larger than Venice, which would probably boost the price quite a bit).

It would be cool that they released a PC version with a Ass Kicking SDK, it would be a Modders Dream!

@Smoov_B I kind of agree with you. Keep in mind that I am all about DLC, and I am never that guy who says it should be free and shipped with the game. Bought and loved each Call of Duty expansion, Gears of War, Halo 3, Borderlands, Burnout Paradise, etc etc ad nasium. That said, the low price point and placement of these memories in the continuum strikes me as.. convenient. Spidey senses are tingling on this one.

Wait a minute, so the full game actually has a part in the story where these two missions are supposed to go but they were left out? I have no problem with companies "milking" an IP with DLC but this sounds wrong. Like they intentionally didn't deliver a completed game just so they could release the unfinished portions later for an additional fee.

What a nuisance, should have included it in the game in the first place~

The game was finished most likely at least 3 weeks before released. That makes the date the game was finished around the 26th of October. Then, If the DLC is released late January,, it will be about 3 months between the finishing of the game and the first dlc. They may have planned on DLC, but they did not just wait for the DLC to be released and purposely not release it. Also, of course the game will eventually come with the DLC. By then, the game will cost 50$, and the game with DLC will cost 60$. They're not trying to rip you off.

Wait a second.... DLC that is meaningful and fun? Now I'm confused...
