Asia Shippin' Out May 1-7: Thor: God of Thunder

The hammer of Mjolnir and the missiles of an anime robot beckon gamers this week.

With the comic book movie Thor already out in cinemas in Asia, it's only fitting for a video game adaptation to come out. This week, gamers will receive the Wii and DS versions of Thor: God of Thunder. The game for the former console is a third-person action game featuring the usual upgrades for Thor's Mjolnir hammer and combat moves, with a multitude of mythological beasts to beat up. The DS version is a 2D action platformer developed by WayForward Entertainment, known for its work on Contra 4 and Shantae: Risky's Revenge. The game is out in stores today.

Gamers looking to fix their 2D shooter cravings should look out for Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury for Xbox Live Arcade. This arcade shooter features more than 100 levels with a mix of action and puzzles, a level editor if gamers are done with said levels and wish to create their own bullet hell of a level, and new multiplayer modes. The game will be out tomorrow.

Injecting more life into the Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer scene is the Xbox 360 version of the downloadable add-on titled Escalation. The DLC features four new maps and a new co-op mode called Call of the Dead that features the voices of Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker, Danny Trejo, and George Romero. This add-on is available right now for download.

Capping off this week's noted releases is the PlayStation 3 version of Sniper: Ghost Warrior. This version of the modern tactical shooter with a huge emphasis on camping and sniping will be packed with the DLC available for the Xbox 360 version, will have tweaked AI, and will remove some of the game's assault missions. The game is out now.
