Asia Shippin' Out: March 20-26
This week's releases are filled with high-powered shooting, a story told a long time ago in a galaxy far away, and two more additions spawning from Square Enix's meal ticket.
Last week's Asian releases were filled with alternate timelines and reenactions of historical battles in feudal Japan. This week in game releases, however, falls under the realms of science fiction and fantasy.
First up is Crysis 2 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. This shooter puts players into the shoes of supersoldier Alcatraz as he fights through an alien-infested New York. The game is powered by the CryEngine 3, still retains the nanosuit power-switching game mechanic, and offers a dozen multiplayer maps and six different modes. Crysis 2 will be out tomorrow.
Next up is a barrage of games from the Final Fantasy line. For fans of Dissidia Final Fantasy, the English version of the sequel will be out tomorrow. Gamers will get to pick the heroes and villains from different Final Fantasy stories and fight it out in one-on-one combat. New features include assist characters during battles and a revamped single-player mode.
For gamers who wish to revisit the realm of Final Fantasy IV, Square Enix will also be releasing Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection: Final Fantasy IV & The After Years for the PSP. In addition to a graphically revamped version of Final Fantasy IV, the game adds in the sequel that puts gamers in the role of Cecil and Rosa's son. The collection will be out this Thursday.
Gamers will want to dust off their Move controllers since PlayStation Move Heroes will be out tomorrow. The game lets players control either Ratchet, Clank, Jak, Daxter, or Sly Cooper in a crossover adventure. Gamers will get to play through a segment of challenges and minigames not unlike Mario Party.
Finally, Traveller's Tales releases the next Lego game series: Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars for all major systems. The game chronicles the stories from the Clone Wars series on television, only with the Lego game series' style of humor, co-op gameplay, and adventure/exploration motif. Lego Star Wars III is scheduled to come out tomorrow.
