Asia Shippin' Out: February 20-26
First-person shooting galore, witch double-teaming, and a little painting goes a long way for the next few days.
Last week was all about nostalgia with the likes of Hard Corps: Uprising and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, accompanied by an adventure with a girl named Catherine. This week, however, subtlety is thrown out of the window with shooters galore.
First up is the PlayStation 3-exclusive shooter Killzone 3, which is due out tomorrow. This third entry in the Guerrilla Games-developed franchise pits Sev and Rico against the Helghast and takes place after the events of Killzone 2. Gamers can either play through the campaign with the all-new co-op mode or just head straight to 16-player and 24-player online multiplayer matches with ever-changing objectives. In addition to the standard version, gamers will get to purchase different bundles of the game, depending on their preferences.
Joining the first-person shooter fray is Bulletstorm, a collaboration between Epic Games and developer People Can Fly. Gamers control Grayson Hunt as he escapes a planet filled with mutant cannibals by any means necessary. The game features the skill-shot system where gamers come up with the best ways to kill enemies in style to earn arcade points, which can then be spent on weapons like the peacemaker carbine, bouncer grenade launcher, and flail gun. Bulletstorm will arrive on local shores tomorrow for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
de Blob 2 will also be coloring store shelves this week. Players will control Blob as he spruces up town with his paint-absorbing and spreading powers in the tainted Prisma City. Blob will gain new moves and upgrades, as well as traverse through 2D side-scrolling underground stages. The free-roaming gameplay found in the original will also be available. Unlike its predecessor, de Blob 2 is not just for the Wii; the game will also be out on the PS3, Xbox 360, and DS this Tuesday.
Topping off the list of releases is Knights Contract for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Knights Contract puts gamers in the boots of immortal Heinrich who teams up with witch Gretchen to undo a curse and rid the land of rogue witches casting a "black spell of death." Players will control Heinrich as he pulls off brutal attacks with his scythe and commands Gretchen to cast powerful spells against the undead and giant bosses. Knights Contract will also be out this Tuesday.
