TKO Software has today announced the launch of a public beta program for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Ashen Empires. The beta version of the game, which weighs in at around 102MB, can be downloaded from the official Ashen Empires Web site.

"Our objective is to develop the foremost MMORPG value brand," said Jacob Hawley, president and CEO, TKO Software. "Dransik has provided the technology on which to start that journey. It comes with an existing user base of several thousand gamers who would not be satisfied if we switched the game off while carrying out development work. Therefore, we are adopting a strategy of phased development. Phase one is the launch of an Ashen Empires beta program that features some fundamental improvements to gameplay and [also features] back-end support that allows subscribers to continue their quests and provides us with their feedback."

Ashen Empires, which was formerly known as Dransik, is a medieval fantasy MMORPG in which groups of players can undertake quests and search for powerful artifacts. The retail launch of the game is currently scheduled for March.
