Ripcord Games has shipped Armor Command, a 3D space combat title, the company announced. The company also announced that feature and mission upgrades are already available at its web site. In fact, the company says, "to maximize their entertainment value, Ripcord Games strongly recommends that gamers upgrade from release version 1.0 to version 1.01 with the game patch and instructions posted at the web site."

According to Ripcord spokesman, the 1.01 patch contains new and improved sound effects, better 3D board setup, better support for various 3D boards, fixes for several gameplay and network issues, and gameplay tuning on most missions. "These were tweaks we thought would enhance the game even more that what we had originally intended to make available, and though (the game) is fun to play right out of the box, it's even easier to set up and more fun now.

So, if the game is playable out of the box, why then is Ripcord "strongly recommending" that players upgrade? "With the upgrade," Ripcord says, "the 3D card setup is easier."

Developed by Ronin Entertainment for Ripcord, Armor Command's gameplay includes aspects of resource management along with real-time 3D battles. In the game, players can choose to be part of either the United Terran Federation (UTF) or an alien collective (VRASS), and multiplay action lets gamers go head-to-head or play in teams.
