Arma III out September 12

Bohemia Interactive's upcoming military shooter launching at retail and digitally next month.

Military shooter Arma III will release worldwide on September 12, developer Bohemia Interactive announced today. The game will be available in digital and physical stores on that date.

To mark the countdown to launch, the Arma III development team will host a Twitch TV livestream on Saturday, August 10 at 17.00 UTC from the company's headquarters in Prague where they will show off a "sneak peek" at the game's release package.

Bohemia Interactive has also launched a special website counting down to the game's launch, featuring an overview of content available in Arma III, as well as descriptions and screenshots.

As announced earlier this week, Arma III will release without its single-player campaign. This mode will be released after launch across three free expansion episodes. The first episode, Survive, will be made available about a month after Arma III launches. The following expansions, Adapt and Win, will release "in the months thereafter."

At launch, players will have access to the island terrains of Altis (270 km²) and Stratis (20 km²), 12 single-player missions, three faction showcases, nine multiplayer scenarios, 10 firing drill challenges, over 20 vehicles and 30 weapons, and modding support.

Gamers can participate in the game's beta today by purchasing the game from Steam and the Bohemia Interactive store for $44.99.

Already own 3 servers, and ready to buy and host more upon release. Im hoping for the 128 player support to still be there, got a host willing to do it. 64v64 on Altis gonna be epic!

Sweet but that's pretty close to Rome 2.  It will be hard to find time for both.  (I've already pre-ordered both.)

So thats how you release by still being a bit buggy, just cut the single player.

September has two big hitters releasing which I worry may starve ARMA of any possible attention....

Total War: Rome II and GTAV are going to be burning up the interwebs in terms of game releases, with the rest of attention firmly aimed at the next-gen consoles.

I am concerned ARMA will be drowned out. Their core user market are going to be interested no matter what, but I'm not sure how well they'll be able to entice new users releasing next month....

That's awesome news but what a terrible date to set. You are gonna release your game 5 days before one of the best games ever made.

@RockingSt4r It is not really necessary, in all reality it would not do too much. ARMA 3 is one of the most hardware intensive games out there, ARMA 3 demands a lot of CPU power. Another thing is Nvidia Drivers have not been optimized for ARMA 3 so that is also playing a major factor with frame issues, I don't think AMD cards are optimized either, but I am not 100%.

@jer_1 I hear that! I don't even need a map or compass to navigate Stratis anymore, it's teeny weeny squeeny

@Mr_BillGates I can't tell if you're serious :).  If you are, I would say that there are very few simulator games of any kind nowadays.

@kargion

Lol it's been on sale all this time. It was $32.99 for months, now it's $44.99 and that's still a discount.

@kargion It's been on sale for months, still is 25% off right now.

@Catz_03 only for a few months, and even then, the SP campaign is not a big loss, most people never really play it, so if that gets it out faster, why not. I'll just play one of the other hundred custom missions in mp or by myself.

@STrugglingFool IKR, nvidia cards are not even optimized for this yet sadly. I can play it fine, but still.

@CptYoutube Arma 3 is PC exclusive. GTA is, so far, Console exclusive.

I don't see how they'd clash in any way.

@CptYoutube well it will be much worst to do it 5 days after...

@Smosh150 @STrugglingFool I'm hopeful that nvidia will start focusing on arma soon, I've yet to see one driver update that has pertained directly to arma3.

@gufberg For people that have both PC and Xbox, which you rather spend $60 on? I honestly don't know anyone with only a PC. Everyone I know has at least one of the 3 major consoles.

Smosh150

@pooya_gojee @Smosh150 @Catz_03 Yea IK there will be, but tbh I really don't play the built in ones too much, but I will test them out.

@CptYoutube @gufberg

The game is already successful since it went on early access, had more traffic than ARMA 2.

@CptYoutube I only own a PC. Most of my friends only own PCs. Personally, i only know one console gamer.

I'd probably gravitate towards buying Arma 3 which, btw, isn't priced at $60.
