Arctic Combat open beta begins this December

Upcoming military FPS shooter adopts free-to-play model; beta opening in North America and Europe.

Webzen has announced the North American and European open beta for the upcoming shooter Arctic Combat, known as Battle Territory (or Battery) in South Korea, will start on December 6.

Free-to-play military shooting action will be heading your way this December.

Players can obtain the download client on Webzen's site to access the free-to-play game. The company has yet to announce on when the game will be fully released.

Arctic Combat features customizable weapons and skills, a trophy loot system, and in-game missions that allow players to gain extra experience points during a match. The game also contains modes like team deathmatch, free for all, and domination.

Webzen previously held its second closed beta session from October 10 to October 21. There is currently no word on whether the game will be released for the Southeast Asian regions. For more information, check out GameSpot's coverage on the shooter.

I've played the closed beta.. and this game is just great.. one of the best FPS i've played. PC friendly, meaning you can play without having to buy a expensive machine. this is a truly great game.Open Beta Starts on 6th of december, if you dont believe me. try it for yourself since its F2P you wont really lose anything buy trying it out for yourself

Apart from what you guys think, this is really worth your time. I've tried many fps, but this seems far more balanced than anything else. Well, no one asks you to buy anything, if you don't like it you simply uninstall it. No loss, just a couple of minutes of your time :) i really don't get why complaining about something that is free anyway-

Good thing it opens in December, you wouldn't want this annoyingly-realistic survival sim of a shooter to have it's infernal cold lost on players who are just trolling through another map and numbly popping off targets.

Another homogenous shooter, i read the article for what this does different to to others to no avail.

I actually thought that was the old bloke from Blops2, i'll stick to DUST 514 been playing the BETA of that and looks more promising only problem with it is the skills, may be too complex for people that havn't played EVEonline.

played this game before. it's basically the free version of call of duty. the sounds are completely ripped from cod4.

I should know by know, but what exactly is beta? I am thinking it's basically an extended demo of the game. Am I wrong? Please fill me in.

Is it just me or does the guy in the photo look like a hybrid between Snake and Woods from Black Ops?

No thanks, I'm sure like 99% of all of the other free to play games that come from that part of the world, this will be half baked and designed with the intent to milk your wallet dry if you want to be competitive.

Looks like every other low end shooter. I'll pass.

Remember the old days where developers would give details about the story/scenario/key players or factions of their game, instead of what bits have climbing numbers attached to them?

That said, 'Arctic' by default sounds more interesting than 'desert' or 'modern'

Don't care. The only free to play FPS I play is Team Fortress 2. No hats, no way.

So in other words, pay up or get pwned by users that are paying.  I'll pass.

@tightwad34 its a test release of any game like a demo online. the developers usually ask for feedback or follow comments made to improve their product. Any bugs present will be picked up by players
