April Fool's Day prank makes Guild Wars 2 characters have huge heads

Developer ArenaNet marks the occasion with "200 percent more cranium" for all characters.

by

Did you log into Guild Wars 2 today and find something a little...off with the characters in Tyria? No reason to worry, as developer ArenaNet deliberately increased the head size for all characters 200 percent to effectively turn them into bobble-heads as an April Fool's Day prank

"Unnamed studies indicate that MMO players feel more emotionally engaged with characters that have heads, which is why every character in Guild Wars 2 has one," ArenaNet says. "If players like characters that have heads, logic dictates that they'll love characters with freakishly large heads…"

Check out the Vine below for the insanity going on inside Guild Wars 2 right now.

That is one lame April Fool's joke. If you can even call it that.

Having played GW2 yesterday, I must admit I found the big heads amusing. It looked particularly freaky (and subsequently, funny) on the Charr and some of the pets or other creatures around the world.

Big head mode... it used to come built into games and activated via a "cheat code". Nowadays it's a special event worthy of a news article... sad times.

Forgot to mention that the bigheadedness was applied to mobs and bosses as well.

I expected this from Big Huge (Head) Games, but not ArenaNet.

Big Head Mode was stupid in NBA Jam 20 years ago, and it is stupid now.

Reminds me of the Gwen doll from Guild Wars 1.

Big heads?  Entertaining, if you're 5 years old.
