Apple will hold a media event on October 22 during which the company will reveal the latest updates to its iPad line, according to people familiar with the company speaking with AllThingsD.
Though the new iPad models will be the focus of the event, the sources said, the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will also be featured during the proceedings.
The fifth generation iPad is rumored to boast a thinner and lighter design, as well as an improved camera, according to AllThingsD. It will also reportedly run Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip.
A second generation iPad mini--featuring a retina display and the A7 chip--will also be announced at the event, the report claims.
It has been rumored that Apple's new iPads will feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner that was first seen in the iPhone 5s, though these reports have been unsubstantiated so far.
