The cuts come as part of a restructuring process that will see Rovio concentrate its efforts around three primary business areas: games, media, and consumer products.

Job cuts were spread across Rovio's entire business, with the exception of the team working on the Angry Birds movie in the United States and Canada. For those affected, Rovio said it will "actively provide career support for those made redundant as a result of the reorganization."

This is the second straight year that Rovio has cut positions, as the developer also shed staff in October 2014.

Angry Birds 2 was released earlier this year, racking up millions of downloads in its first two weeks. The Angry Birds movie arrives in May 2016, while Rovio has also announced a massive Angry Birds balloon for this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Financially speaking, Rovio has seen better days.
