Microsoft Game Studios has today announced that it will release Amped 2 before the end of this year. The game will be Xbox Live-enabled, and Microsoft is promising that, in addition to being able to challenge other riders from around the globe, players will be able to download additional content for the game, including mountains, gear, challenges, and music.

Players will be able to create their own snowboarder or compete as one of the 14 real-life pros who appear in the game. Amped 2 will also feature real mountains for players to put their skills to the test on, and those announced today include Laax in Switzerland and Mt. Buller in Australia. The level of detail in the environments will be much higher than in the first game, and as they ride the slopes, players will be able to see snow cats grooming the runs and people riding on chairlifts.

Amped 2 is currently scheduled for release toward the end of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, you might be interested to check out our review of Amped , which is now part of the Xbox Platinum Hits collection.
