It was originally announced to be launching in March.

Frictional Games has officially locked in a release date for Amnesia: The Bunker, and it's only a few months away.

Amnesia: The Bunker was only announced in December, but Frictional Games has confirmed today that the latest entry in the popular horror series will be launching May 16. This is a delay of a couple of months, as when the game was announced it was given a March release window, but it's not too much longer of a wait, all things considered.

Now Playing: Amnesia: The Bunker - Announcement Trailer

In this particular outing, you'll be playing as Henri Clement during World War 1. Henri is a soldier who's left behind by his battalion, finding himself stuck in a seemingly abandoned military bunker, but this is an Amnesia game, so obviously he isn't. As Henri, you'll be tasked with finding your way through the bunker to escape the beast that hunts you, though there are some traps that might trip you up along the way.

Frictional Games previously described the game has having a "sandboxy," unscripted feel, and the most recent press release highlighted the freedom of player choice and "creating an emergent gameplay experience in a sandbox horror survival setting." The game is also meant to be somewhat surprising, with objects, threats, and resources changing "with every playthrough."

Amnesia: The Bunker is planned to release on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it launches May 16.
