Amazon Opens Wii U, 3DS Digital Games Storefront

Now you can buy digital Nintendo games without having to go the eShop.

Amazon shoppers can now purchase digital Nintendo games, such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros., outside of the eShop thanks to new functionality that's now available to shoppers in the United States.

This should work relatively easily. Simply buy the "Digital Code" version of one of more than 50 titles available in the program, click the "Nintendo Network Link" after completing your purchase, and then log into your Nintendo Network account. Once you do this, the game/DLC will beam to your Wii U, Wii, or 3DS.

The new functionality provides a new way to buy Nintendo games and DLC outside of the eShop. Even though the games are still coming directly from Nintendo, options are always nice.

Right now, pricing across the eShop and Amazon's new Nintendo digital storefront seems to be the same, though it's possible Amazon will offer deals from time to time, as it's known to do.

For more, head to the Nintendo digital store page on Amazon. Do you see yourself making use of this new feature? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
