At E3 2004, Sega will be giving its first look at Amazing Island, its upcoming Hitmaker!-developed monster-training game for the GameCube. Amazing Island takes place on an aptly chosen "amazing island," which exists in another world. However, "amazing" turns to "evil" rather quickly after a rather enigmatic force known as The Black Evil takes over the island by capturing its resident natives, the Maboo tribe. To remove this evil from the land and to rescue the Maboo tribe, it will be up to you to create a monster and then enter it into a series of competitions that involve timing, speed, and head-to-head battles.

Amazing Island will feature nearly 30 different varieties of competition, most of which will fall under the category of various types of minigames. After conquering each competition, you will gain magical orbs as well as new features for enhancing your created monster. The game's monster-editing system will be huge, allowing for what is described as "near-infinite" combinations of monsters. Everything will be editable, ranging from basic body parts to a vast range of cosmetic accessories. In addition, Amazing Island will feature GBA connectivity, allowing you to transfer your monster to the GBA to compete alone or against up to three other players. Furthermore, you can acquire specialized GBA-specific monster-building items using GBA connectivity as well.

Amazing Island is currently slated to ship to stores this summer. We will have more on the game in the near future.
