Alternate BioShock Infinite covers available now

Official game site features eight different box art covers together with printing instructions.

Developer Irrational Games has just released the eight alternate box art covers for BioShock Infinite today on the game's official website for free.

The Handyman artwork is one of the eight alternate box covers players can download and print for free.

Gamers get to pick between two versions of Elizabeth solo on the cover, two versions of Elizabeth and Booker together, three concept art covers depicting the game's Handyman, Murder of Crows vigor power, and Songbird, and an artwork of Booker trying to catch Elizabeth as they fall from the flying city of Columbia. Instructions for printing the box art are available on the site in an Adobe PDF file.

Six of the eight pieces of artwork were featured in a poll last year to determine which would feature on the reversible cover for the game at launch day. For more information on BioShock Infinite, check out GameSpot's review and additional coverage.

The only reason they put a Big Daddy on the cover of the original Bioshock is that the playable protaganist had no face. Love the alternative cover they chose for Infinite though, since it focus on the setting than any character.

Finished, uninstalled, shelfed...no need for fancy covers.

The very first thing I did when I received the game was to reverse the cover.  I didn't even play it until three days later.

I found the shipped box art refreshing. It really stands out on my shelf. In a sea on black and blue side bar colours its refreshing to see the light blue of Infinite.

Strangely one of the first things I noticed after buying the game.

Why would I want to print out new box art, only to put the game back on my shelf?

I liked the reversable cover that came with it. Makes it look like a book with an awesome quote concerning transdimentional travel on the back. That's the one my case is rockin'! Of course, the greatest explanation of time, ever, was in the Doctor Who episode 'Blink'.

Why did they wait to do this?? I would have liked a cover that wasn't ripped off from CoD but now I'm stuck because I was actually a good fan.

Not that big of a deal, just really annoying

I remember when more than half of retail games came with instruction booklets

I use the art on the reverse side of the cover that shipped. It reminds of reversible shirts.

It's funny how now that the game is out and beloved no one gives half a shit about the box art!

Love to see stuff like this! Bioshock Infinite is by far one of the best games of all time and will probably be the game pointed out when remembering this generation of consoles and games.

They don't explain how to affix this to my Steam copy. Do I just wrap it around my hard drive?

for all the fuss those don't really just looks THAT much better if at all than the one they shipped the game with

Fantastic game, fantastic art, fantastic company.

I usually don't care for alternate box art, but for a game as special as Bioshock Infinite, I'll make an exception.

I haven't played the game yet, but I've seen quite a bit of footage, and I would say none of those boxart covers actually capture the 'essence' of the game, except maybe the one where they are both falling.  I don't buy games based on boxart (thankfully), but I think the artists actually failed to adequately convey the setting and the bond between the two main characters in all of these boxart choices.

It's cool that game companies do little things like this. I liked it with the Mass Effect 3 cover how you could turn it inside out to have either a male or female Shepard for the cover.

The generic one they went with has the best compositional value.  I wonder if that was the real issue all along, and they just misunderstood it to be about the subject matter.

Fuck  Yeah, now my whole gaming experience will be a lot better thanks to the different covers available for me to print on my own, gee, thanks Irrational Games and ty also to the people who said the original cover angers them too.

this is really cool, more games should do this, you know, to give the owner a small sense of having a more personalized and unique cover. I approve

" Hail to the King Baby" cover art obviously won that one! xD

Evil Dead is nice, but he was no Bruce Campbell lol well, least I have a printer that does professional ARGB prints xD Now if only they had a physical copy for PC.

Elizabeth and Booker side by side look the best in Alternate #2 Booker and Elizabeth. That shall be my cover art.

Most of these alternative covers were pretty underwhelming - however, I thought the last cover with Elizabeth on the front with Booker in the background was actually pretty good.  Possibly even better than the cover it shipped from?  It seems a bit more accurate to the game, as I think Bioshock is really more or less Elizabeth's story.

Everyone knows this will make the game better.

The one where they are falling should have been the original one.

@Kayweg Too much Call of Duty will do that to people- they can't see a masterpiece of a video game when it's right in front of them.. a shame.

@The-Neon-Seal Would you kindly tell me which episode on which season of Doctor Who is "Blink"?

@ziproy

what do u mean, your cover comes with a second side just slide it out and look at the other side. Plus you can still print these and slide it into the cover =P

@Chaos_Dante_456

I liked the one that shipped with the game, but I still flipped it. I have my premium edition box on my shelf so I get to see them both. :)

Several of these covers aren't really my style either. I don't care for the brown ones the most (though the songbird one isn't bad). I think my favorites that I might wind up using is the one that is the main cover, but with Elizabeth added to it or the falling one. I kind of like how it shows both characters on each since that is largely what made the game so great.

@PSBEATSALLDEAL That doesn't really matter, this is only relevant to people that own the game. I highly doubt their goal here is to get more sales, it's just an extra thing they are doing for the fans

Kolo32

@laser00All this time they wasted on already finished cover art they had passed on! They could have used that fan art team to make the game 3000 billion majillion times longer. Oh? No? Fan artist's don't program for the game? Well, fuck Irrational for doing something for the community that took no extra time or effort and costs the costumer nothing.

@ailecks Because there's an alternative on the inside that screams 'BioShock' a lot louder than the 'generic white guy with a gun' boxart.

@X-Robert Series 3, the best of the new series' up to this one (which so far is actually better). 'People think of time as a strict progression from cause to effect, when really its a great big ball of wibbly-wobbly, -timey-wimey... stuff...' Or words to that effect. Lol.

@ninjaroach81 Great Idea! I won't even need a cooling fan then, right?

batman_is_gaey

@Kolo32 @laser00 Its still a completely pointless addition AFTER you've bought the game. I can't imagine anyone actually being excited by running to their printer with joy, printing that shit out and replacing the original cover art only to put it back in their shelves. -__- Yes its a nice move, but again it's pointless and anyone who actually prints this out is wasting their time and energy.

Apastron
Apastron

@dark_jedi79 It's an observation about the typical video game avatar.  Fact - they are white.  Fact - they are male.  Fact - they are holding a gun.  And after scraping the barrel of dreariness, they have a story and motif that are just as creative.

BioShock is so much more than that.

@syafiqjabar

Not to mention that the game is good enough to go back and play down the road. Plus, if the game is on your shelf wouldn't a cool cover make sense since all it is doing at the moment is displaying that?

syafiqjabar
syafiqjabar

@batman_is_gaey @Kolo32 @laser00 Yes, there are people excited for this because as long as they are still playing the game they would display the game box and it helps to have one that looks nice.
