All Uncharted 3 maps now free

Two years after launch, Naughty Dog makes all multiplayer maps free, adds Dry Docks map.

Two years after launch, all Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception multiplayer maps are now free to download and play through game update 1.18, Naughty Dog has announced. This includes the Flashback Map Pack 1 and 2, as well as the Drake's Deception Map Pack.

In addition, Naughty Dog announced Dry Docks, an all-new multiplayer map for Uncharted 3. Originally pitched as a single-player level for Uncharted 3, the map was later cut and "forgotten," lead game designer Robert Cogburn said. It is also included as a free download.

On top of the free and new maps, the Uncharted 3: Drake's Fortune 1.18 update features a host of weapon, gameplay, booster, and kickback tweaks. Check out the full patch notes for more.

Patch 1.18 will be the final major patch for the game, unless something "dire" calls for a future update, Naughty Dog said. The developer will hold a Reddit AMA session on Friday, November 1 to discuss the changes included with the update.

Naughty Dog, which has multiple teams inside its studio, is currently working on an unannounced PlayStation 4 project. Lost actor Dominic Monaghan previously referenced a "new Uncharted," while a listing for a PS4 Uncharted game recently appeared on GameStop.

Whilst I am happy for certain people I feel the people who bought the Fortune Hunters pass like me feel a bit cheated out of 20 pounds.

Does this mean I can play co-op multiplayer for free as well? Last time I checked, this wasn't available through my free download from PS+...

Got the game free via PS+. Now I will get all the content for free. Thanks ND and Sony.

Great to see Naughty Dog still supporting the MP 2 years later.

Maybe Activision should take note, seeing how last time I checked even WAW maps are still their original price.

Love the UC3 MP, never imagined there'd be another new map. Awesome. :)

Sounds good in principal but I'm assuming that the only people that will still be playing this game will have already bought the maps anyway.

@Ripper_TV  It should be available in Playstation store now or soon future. Search Uncharted 3 and click on an Add on tab.

@chocolate1325  Personally, I wouldn't. You had those maps for 2 years longer and got to enjoy them all this time. I wish they'd do this for say, Halo3 ... an old game that still has the community splintered by those who have dlc maps and those who don't.

@chocolate1325 It's inevitable in a situation like this. Some people are gonna be a little upset. But look at it this way, all of the people who payed at least got a massive head run on the people that now gets the maps for free. I think it's nice that they did this. A nice treat for all the people that kept playing the series during these years, and never got around to buying or could afford the maps. It's kinda like finding out that your local super market gives away free hotdogs when you were there the day before and bought hotdogs. Sure, it sucks, but it happens.

@StokeMeAClipper Many old online gaming maps are like graveyards now. Paying for those maps is like being ensnared in a trap.

@trdrstv @chocolate1325 Great idea that's yet never happened on Halo games and many of EA hit tittles. Hope to see it for Halo 4 GOTY edition.

@jark888 @StokeMeAClipper The problem I have is that MP games normally take time and commitment to get your moneys worth. I have a huge backlog of games with SP campaigns to work through, so I try to avoid getting addicted to a MP game as it halts progress. This means that I don't want to pay a large amount of money for MP maps if I'm not going to get my moneys worth.

Some of the time it's worth buying the maps cheap afterwards as there are still people playing and you get to check out the maps without the commitment to get your moneys worth. Unfortunately, as you pointed out sometimes the MP is dead, so I'll have missed out on the experience entirely.

I'm my own worst enemy, as I buy far too many games.

@jark888 That's a wise way to do it. Some games I do that with, but others I don't want to wait for. It's stupid really because sometimes I'll buy something close to its release date and by the time I actually get around to playing it I may as well have waited.

@StokeMeAClipper @jark888 Well, paying for map is never my thing. I usually wait and buy the most complete edition of games. This way I don't have to worry whether or not their maps would worth anything.
