Acclaim Entertainment and Austin Studios have today released the first details on the improvements being made to the latest installment in their All-Star Baseball series. The 2004 edition will be released on the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, GBA, and PC early next year and is the first in the series to feature online play.

In addition to all of the current team rosters and downloadable updates, All-Star Baseball 2004 will feature no fewer than 110 retired legendary players of MLB and Negro Leagues, including Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Cal Ripken, Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and Buck O'Neill. Four-time World Series champion Derek Jeter will also appear in the game and actually presents the game's practice mode, serves as a guide in rookie mode, and talks a little about the stadiums in the game in the stadium tour mode. Jeter will also introduce the game's intriguing scenario mode in which players can assume the role of manager in the middle of an actual scenario from one of last year's games.

The console and GBA versions of All-Star Baseball are all scheduled for release in February 2003, while the PC version should arrive in stores in May. We'll bring you more information on all five versions of the game as it becomes available.
