Aliens vs. Predator gets Bughunt DLC July 7

Expansion brings four new maps, weather changes, and environmental hazards to Rebellion shooter for $7.

by

Even though Aliens vs Predator wasn't so well received when it was released in February, the game's multiplayer was a bright spot. After hatching downloadable content in March, Sega is following up with even more maps due out next week.

Sega today announced the second heap of downloadable content for the frightening shooter. The Bughunt map pack (560 MS points, or $7) adds four environments to the game, as well as weather alterations and environmental hazards.

Fans will soon have more places to kill aliens.

The pack brings two new locales to the game's online multiplayer and two to the game's Survival mode. In the latter, up to four players suit up as US Colonial Marines and tackle an alien horde assault. The content will be available July 7 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC (via Steam).

Loved this game, specially muliplayer but I will never understand why they are doing this since online is well known to be pretty much all but dead out there, and I doubt enough people will be willing to buy this game all over again just for some maps..

Game was horribly reviewed.......by Gamespot.....Most other places gave it above average reviews. "7.0, 7.5, a few 8.0". Game was fun I don't care what anyone says but it had some major flaws that were borderline unforgivable. Alien campaign was painfully short. Lack of weapons for Predator and Marine. Simple AI. Not enough levels. I could live without the ADS keep that in COD and every other shooter for god sakes...but seriously? No crouch?!?! Online was a blast...when you could get in a match...that lasted. Even on the day the game came out it took forever to get in a match. Not to mention no host migration seeing as the host loves to rage quit as well. Most people played the game online couldn't get the grips on the melee system, failed...and traded it in. Sad really. Game was busted but hardly the piece of trash people made it out to be. Regardless of all that...bad move with the DLC. Online on this game is beyond dead on both consoles, you can still get into player matches but you can't rank up in player matches at all so whats the point? The PC version has several patches that make it an all around MUCH BETTER multiplayer game...at least a better balanced one. Plus you can earn XP in player matches on PC, and it also has Dedicated servers now as well.

this game feels, looks, and plays like a old SEGA game...seriously! was expecting so much more, it cannot compete with todays vid games.

i wasted $50 on this game for pc, and there is no way i would pay for "downloadable content" for it, especially for its god awful insult of a multiplayer mode that is an insult to pc multiplayer

I wish they would continue the next Aliens movie with the Cloned Ripley fighting off Predators & Aliens on Earth alongside Wynona Ryders Call Character... Before they get to old lol

I don't have this game, but that sounds like an actual fair price for that DLC!! Gratz Rebellion.

The idea of this game was good but... little things missing from the game like no crouch for the predators or humans, no aiming down the sight for the human guns, no face hugger online modes and not much thought gone into the multiplayer levels apart from the pyramid level! As a Aliens Series fan and Aliens vs Predator fan i expected more! This game just feels outdated like it should have been released back in 2006! I dont think ill buy this new map pack unfortunately...

I still think the atari jaguars avp is better lol

I'm not a steam fanboy, I'll say that up front... but it's shocking to see so many indie developers releasing DLC's like they're just-another-patch for what are already very nicely priced games over on Steam... meanwhile overhyped games like this that had bloated production budgets plus a major marketing campaign put behind them... and they want to milk you for the slightest bit of extra content. Move on, their are better games out there from much better developers.

dont get me wrong though, f**k this game.after realising my mistake of preordering, i then traded it in 4 days later

would be good if the online play wasnt broken, preordered the game for online play and it was good when it worked, which was about every half hour that u actually got into a ranked match. hopefully they make no money on this and so the games designers learn how to make a functional multiplayer or jus get fired for such a terrible idea

Wow, tho I LOVE AVP online you ave to agree that this is a stupid move..I mean they finally release DLC maps NOW, before it would have been great but the freaken ONLINE part of this game is D.E.A.D! Again I love playing it online but it is very dead and hard to find alot of ppl still playing so what are they thinking getting out new maps for this?

They have the gall to actually release DLC you have to pay for, for this game?Insulting.I mean even more insulting than charging you for maps usually is.

I would care if the game was actually good.

I can't even begin to contemplate how a game developer like Rebellion can still be around. Seriously they have been incompetent since they first started, the best score they've received on next gen consoles was 6.5(for a wii game no less), and the only thing that seems to keep them going is a large group of misinformed gamers who pre order their games based on the crappy, twenty second videos they release days before the game comes out, even though they never once show any clear gameplay. Screwing up the sequel to a messed up, but decent, game like Shellshock is understandable. Screwing up an AVP game almost seems impossible to me.

Yeah. This game basically needed another solid year of development time to get it right, and unfortunately, it didn't receive it. What a shame...

Now if only this game was fun in the first place :(. Damn what a huge disappointment, the original and avp2 were so fun back in the day.

I got this when it came out, liked the single player campaign despite its flaws, but was disappointed with the online features because the matchmaking was soooo slow, I should check it out now though, to see if the matchmaking improved. Hopefully people are still playing online.

Is it weird that I rewatched the video review for this 3 minutes before this got posted?

"Wasn't so well received". Yes, by Gamespot. Other sites were common to give it a 7 or higher. It certainly wasn't the masterpiece AVP2 (2001) was, but it wasn't terrible. Still, I probably won't be picking this up. While I was disappointed with Aliens vs Predator, I'm still a little more than happy it sold so well and there's a strong possibility of a sequel. If Rebellion fixes the problems, it could easily turn out to be a great shooter. That, and since Sega is determined to release Aliens: Colonial Marines (developed by Gearbox) sometime soon, I think I'll have my Aliens fill for some good while.

What, Sega/Rebellion? No love for the Predator? and How about some new single player missions, show you're different and that's it not all about multiplayer.

Bunghunt? Did you mean Bughunt? Edit: Good correction. :P
