Sierra Entertainment and Fox Interactive have announced Aliens Versus Predator 2: Primal Hunt Expansion Pack, the upcoming add-on to their popular sci-fi action game Aliens Versus Predator 2. The expansion will contain an all-new storyline that links the three playable species in the game--humans, aliens, and predators. It will include new single-player and multiplayer levels, new player characters, and a number of new weapons.
Primal Hunt's nine-mission storyline is set 500 years before the events depicted in Aliens Versus Predator 2, and it provides closure for some of the questions left unanswered in the previous game. Before the humans built the research facility on planet LV1201, predators visited the planet to hunt aliens. After a predator discovered an ancient artifact that can control aliens, a mysterious field captured the predator in stasis. Five hundred years later, a human mercenary accidentally revived the predator as he tried to activate the artifact. Players will assume the role of the predator that was trapped in stasis for 500 years, the human mercenary Dunya, and the predalien, a hybrid of the alien and predator species on a mission to destroy the ancient artifact before it is reactivated.
In addition to the single-player storyline, Primal Hunt will include four new multiplayer levels, two new creatures indigenous to the planet, and a new predator ruins environment. In addition, the expansion adds new species-specific weapons and combat styles including dual pistols, a turret gun, and a deployable sentry gun for the human species and an energy fléchette and a self-destruct for the predator species.
Aliens Versus Predator 2: Primal Hunt is in development at Third Law Interactive, the Dallas-based game studio that created the action game KISS: Psycho Circus, and it is scheduled for release in June. We'll post more information about the expansion as it becomes available. To learn more about the original Aliens Versus Predator 2, read our full review of the game.
