Aliens Come to Earth in New "Arrival" Trailer

Their intentions are unknown.

Paramount has released a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi movie Arrival, which sees Oscar nominee Amy Adams encountering aliens that may or may not be friendly.

This trailer shows the day alien spacecraft arrived on Earth. Adams' character, the expert linguist Louise Banks, is brought on by the US government to make first contact. Upon entering the alien pod, Adams' character begins to discover the aliens' language in an attempt to communicate. Not every government agrees with how to handle the situation (spacecrafts landed on the various continents) and the threat of global war hangs in the balance. There is also a pretty cool sequence in the trailer where Adams' character is seen dreaming in the language of the aliens...somehow. Take a look:

Arrival also stars Oscar-nominee Jeremy Renner and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. It is directed by Sicario's Denis Villeneuve, who is also directing 2017's Blade Runner 2049 starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.

The movie opens on November 11. It is based on Ted Chiang's 1998 novella Story of Your Life.

Regarding the look of Arrival's aliens, Renner told USA Today, They're "not goofy creatures with guns who are going to kill us." Adams teased that they will look "different than what you would have thought."
