Agetec has today announced that it will publish Kuon for the PlayStation 2 in North America toward the end of this year. Currently in development at From Software, Kuon is a survival horror title set in the Heian era (AD 794-1192) of ancient Japan.

"We are elated to be working with one of the most talented and imaginative Japanese producers, Atsushi Taniguchi," said Mark Johnson, vice president of marketing at Agetec. "Kuon's presentation, eerie atmosphere, and challenging gameplay differentiates itself from everything else on the market and is, no doubt, an experience players will never forget."

Kuon will see players venturing to a dark castle in the Japanese town of Kyoto, which, since this is a survival horror title, is overrun with mutated creatures and unimaginable horrors. Players will assume the role of either a teenage girl named Utuski, who is searching for her father, or Doman, an exorcist (and the father of Utuski) who is investigating the castle, along with a number of his followers. After completing both of the characters' storylines, players will unlock the game's third and final chapter, during which they will assume the role of the mysterious master Onmyoji.
