Smite, a free-to-play game, debuts on PS4 today, February 19, through a closed alpha; a closed beta will begin in early March. You can sign up here for a chance to get a closed beta code. A release date for the final, public version of the game was not announced.

Originally released in 2014 for PC, before launching the next year on Xbox One, Smite has already attracted 14 million players, Hi-Rez said.

PS4 players will have access to five free gods (Ymir, Thor, Neith, Guan Yu, and Ra), as well as those currently available in the game's free rotation. Additional gods can be earned through gameplay or by paying for them with real money.

The PS4 version of Smite is getting some exclusive skins, too. These include Odin's "World's Collide" skin, which will be given to players who link their PS4 and Hi-Rez accounts. Another exclusive skin, Kulkulkan's "KuKu4," is available for all PlayStation Plus members. It is unclear if Smite will require a PS Plus membership.

The third skin is Ymir's "C4codemon," which is included with the Smite Founder's Pack. This $30 option gives you access to all present and future characters, as well as 400 Gems, the Ares "Soldier of Fortune" skin, and guaranteed access to the beta.

Smite's PS4 version is not altogether a surprise. Earlier this week, a listing from European ratings board PEGI revealed that a PS4 version of the game was on the way. You can learn more about the PS4 version of Smite through this detailed FAQ on the game's website. Among other things, the document confirms that there will not be cross-platform play between PC and PS4.
