After Attracting 10 Million Players, Games of Thrones Ascent Adds Second Expansion

Game of Thrones Ascent, the mobile and web game from Boston-based independent developer Disruptor Beam, on Thursday launched its second expansion, Fire & Blood. The studio has also released new content themed around Season 5 of HBO's popular Game of Thrones, which debuted earlier this month.

Fire & Blood introduces a new gameplay system called Tales of Ice and Fire, a new dragon egg to hatch along with a new system that lets players grow and evolve their dragons, and a new new building called the Great Hall. In addition, Game of Thrones Ascent has introduced new quests and made new items available to buy based around Season 5 of HBO's Game of Thrones, which premiered on April 12. Disruptor Beam is using the tagline, "Watch on Sunday, play on Monday!" to promote this content.

Game of Thrones Ascent was released in 2013 and has attracted more than 10 million players, who have together created more than 15 million characters. The game's first expansion, The Long Night, was released in October 2014. You can download the free game today on iTunes and Google Play, or play it on Facebook, Kongregate, or DisruptorBeam.com.
