Two years ago, Big Ant Studios in Melbourne announced that it was working on a new AFL game, AFL Live, but it remained fairly tight lipped about any specific features that the game may have.

That’s now changed, as publisher Tru Blu Entertainment has confirmed to GameSpot AU that it has picked up the publishing and distribution rights to AFL Live. The game is slated for release on April 21 and will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A Wii version of the game will follow shortly in May.

AFL Live will support Xbox Live and PlayStation Network play for up to two players or up to four players in offline multiplayer. As you'd expect from a licensed sporting game, all of the official teams and stadiums have been faithfully re-created. You can also head to the drawing board and create your own player or team using the Footy Factory editor.

Keep an eye on GameSpot AU for more coverage of AFL Live in the coming weeks.
